I have an old Safariland holster that was given to me ten or so years ago. It needs some things to repair and be able to use it on my belt. I just have no clue what it needs. I believe it’s for a Glock G17. I know it fits my G19 perfect. I’m also not sure if what ride height I want it to be. My belt is setup to where I can get in and out of vehicles with it on. I’ll take advice on that from all of you. Here are pics of the holster. If anyone has links to the repair parts and if they are on Amazon please feel free to post them below. You have an SLS type holster, with the swing forward hood only. You need a belt mount of your choice, any SL model will work as they all use the same 3-hole pattern, and you'll want a t-nut and screw to go in that hole for adding tension. There's a lot of generic SL style screw packs on Amazon, having one wouldn't hurt to get the type of screws and t-nuts they use. Like this: https://www.amazon.com/T-Nuts-Holster-Leather-Holsters-Sheaths/dp/B0FX86SDDL And then for the belt mount, a mid-ride UBL is popular, it puts the butt of the pistol about even with the top of your belt when worn. These usually come with a small baggie of screws to attach it to the holster. Cant Adjustable UBL |

I may be asking a stupid question but I’m running on fumes. I saved those parts and thank you for the links. I didn’t know about the T nuts so that’s one thing I didn’t have saved. I was thinking mid ride was what I wanted but wasn’t sure. I appreciate the help! |

The UBL mount mentioned above is the Safariland one, and his advice is spot on - mid ride is what you want. It's not a real drop leg holster setup, you don't use a thigh strap. But it drops the holster JUST A LITTLE below the belt height. That UBL mount will work with your belt if you rig it right. Down the road, when you have more money and time, you can get a holster for each of your other pistols and use Safariland's QD system to easily swap them on and off the holster. Personally I say you just dedicate one pistol to this belt system, but you asked. https://www.amazon.com/SAFARILAND-Platform-Attachment-Holsters-Accessories/dp/B002868Q46 The best mounting system (personal opinion) is the True North MHA. The metal plate does the same thing as the UBL, but with more options to how to mount, is more rigid, etc. I have and use both this and the Safariland on above. The Safariland one does it's just almost as well, just throwing out ideas for the future. (when you upgrade to a nicer belt, you can keep the Safariland one on the cheap belt and put a different holster on there, and put the nicer mount and such on the new belt for instance) Note that the True North system has a thigh strap, it's optional and you don't need it. IE, it lines up with your eye immediately. You can do 99% of learning to present correctly with dry fire. |

It’s just getting consistent and now that warmer weather is here I’ll set up some targets outside and get in more time with it. I have been doing that off and on all winter in a hallway. I’m not to the point of not hunting the dot as much as I was in the beginning. I’m using an Osight SE and really like it a lot. Good clear and crisp dot. I’m 52 and I’m training an old dog to get used to a new trick lol. |
