From what little information I could glean off reddit and insta photos: 1. Side-mounted crane and battery ports 2. Top slider controls IR illuminator focus 3. Side-mounted selector (which I think is a mistake, since you might able to switch modes while slung - needs provision for a cover) 4. Center fire control button 5. No more offset mount - the lasers are slightly off the centerline in this version. 6. Comes with a diffuser out of the box (supposedly) 7. Supposedly waterproof I'm personally not sure why they relocated everything off the back of the MFAL, but all in all, it looks like a solid effort, and I'll definitely be buying one. |

What do you all see as the advantage of the three and one over the original HFXC? Even if you don’t need or don’t kove the white light on the 4-in-one, it’s pretty much the same size as the three-in-one, but shorted a feature. I love that the new one is more symmetrical, centers over the rail, has a slider, fire button looks good position… But it seems like all those features could’ve been added into a unit that also has white light in the same size envelope. |

Weight, bulk, cost, simplicity of construction and use. It looks like they knocked this one out of the park so long as it’s at least as good as the last one. |

(It IS centered on the rail though, and I like that much better compared to HFXC.) I assume weight isn't higher than the 3-in-1 + a separate flashlight and its necessary associated mounting hardware. I'd think it would be lighter than two separate lights/aimers, because only one rail mount needed for the HFXC. (Even if the separate flashlight is better/brighter, the HFXC didn't have a BAD whitelight, and improvements could be made to the white light while keeping it an all-in-one.) Don't get me wrong: I'll probably get one of the new ones, and bought an HFXC as well. I dig what they're doing. I just wanted to see WHY people would want to remove a feature if it doesn't get you a size savings. |

Pretty much comes down to the interface. The IR illuminator is easier to adjust in real time with the slider (the wheel is kinda annoying if you're on the clock), and the fire button is more centered. It also has (presumably) better waterproofing, and the CR123 battery is easier to remove from the side. However,you could use the current HFXC as an IR-only device if you wanted to right now, as you're suggesting, and pair it with an OKW or whatever. In fact, in some ways, that would work pretty well, since you'd have both flood WL and focus WL available to you in a known-WL situation (which is most home defense scenarios). Where some people are getting hung up is that they can't imagine pairing the HFXC with a dedicated white light, and thus pretend you can't use one with the HFXC. But that's nonsense, as I describe above. The HFXC as it is is still a pretty rocking device if you need a single device solution on a smaller rifle where a dedicated WL isn't appropriate or there's no good way to mount an Axon or TAPS. I bought one for my AUG specifically for that reason. I hope they keep iterating on the 4-in-1 devices, too. I'd LOVE to see a version that added a third head on the right so you could have both flood and focus WL and NV solutions all in one device ("6-in-1"). |

I would be willing to accept the tradeoff to get a center-bore aligned emitter at a reasonable price. If they can be 10-20% of the cost of a Wilcox RAID, I'm buying. |

| Holy crap, $320? What a time to be alive! I remember selling a VITAL-2 for $1700 back in 2007 and buyers were falling all over each other to get it since good IR lasers were basically still unobtanium. I wish the minimum divergence was as tight as the IRIS but I'm ordering one anyways. Hopefully it holds zero. I'm pretty smitten with the IRIS, but this looks like it has serious potential. |

| It costs money to get certification for water AND dust. Dust test is usually performed in a vacuum chamber for several hours with talcum powder. The more stringent standard most mfg go for is IPX8 for water immersion because typically if you can keep pressurized water out its dust proof more then likely. Not to say that it’s 100% because certain seals change ect based on temp which can let microscopic pieces of dust sometimes get in. As a consumer tho yes it’s bascially dust proof if it’s water proofed. Hopefully my pre order ships out I’m ready to play with this unit. |

| I only have tried the TOR-mini IR laser. You guys use any laser rated safety glasses? I mean a great price FP, IR laser is what I want. But want to not be blind, from a accidental/negligent laser discharge. Or just don’t be stupid? |
