I have a 16 and a 17. Both have ACOG’s. The ACOG on the 17 looks like the tritium has broke inside and spread out. This is after 1500-1700 rounds. I know the SCAR series can be rough on optics so I am guessing this is what happened. Anyone have the same thoughts ? I don’t want to put another ACOG on on the 17 if it does it again, so what is a better option ? Elcan ? And how are the Elcans holding up ? I suspect I can send the ACOG back to Trijicon for repair/replacement, if they will honor it. Any thoughts on that? Thanks for looking. |

| My wife and I both have SCAR 17 SBRs. She still has her original TA11 ACOG mounted on her rifle while I have swapped mine out with a TA11, VCOG and finally a Nightforce ATACR 1-8 with a piggyback Aimpoint P-2. No issues with any of the optics on our SCARs. Trijicon pride themselves on ACOGs being able to handle the recoil of the SCAR so you should run into no issues getting your ACOG repaired under warranty. I have sent in one of my ACOGs to Trijicon for repair after I adjusted the windage too far and they repaired it free of charge under warranty. As far as Elcans are concerned I haven't heard of any going down when mounted on a SCAR 17 so those are good to go as well. |

i have a 556 elcan and 2 762. 1x4 and 1.5 x 6. they were built for the scar fielding to socom they are tanks (heavy) built to be both a CCO and an ACOG. large window and the BDC reticles make it easy you can find them used on EE for around $1600-1800. i like them and trust them |

My eyes would prefer a generous zoom with good parallax and focus adjustments. My brain prefers BDC type reticules, but I could live with my range cards and spinning the turret. When my eyes were young the acog was great but now I find the reticules are just too small. I should have bought the Elcan when they came out, but didn't. Now that they are discontinued I'm not sure I would buy one used. |
