So I have a SCAR 17S, and I want a scope that can handle the notorious recoil without falling apart. Let's call it a strict budget of $1600 with shipping and tax. Need at least 4x magnification, but up to 8x might be nice. Prefer 1x on the low-end if possible. Trijicon Credo 1-8 x34 FFP - $1350 at Optics Planet Leupold Mark 4HD 1-4.5x24 (30mm) $999 Vortex Razor HD Gen II-E 1-6x24mm 30mm Tube $1425 at OP Nightforce NX8 1-8x24mm F1 - ZeroStop $1750 (out of price range) Something that can take a beating and maybe has a good warranty in case the SCAR eats it up. |

| i have a nightforce nx8 on mine and while people online may complain about the eye box I actually like mine. it suits me well. To be fair they are going well with in your budget over on the EE. I've had a gen 3 razor as well and i loved that, but it wasn't on any of my scars but wouldn't hesitate to put a gen 2 on them either. seriously consider the ee especially as they have no bs warranties from the manufactures |

I had a Credo 1-8 on mine for a bit, then ran a TA11 on it also like Ruin mentioned. Both were good options, especially the TA11 if you want to keep weight down. I prefer LPVOs myself, as well as tree reticles (personal preference) so I'd go with the NX8, Credo 1-10, or EOTECH Vudu 1-10. I haven't owned an NX8 but my Uncle has one on an AR-10 that is really nice. Credo 1-10 adds a bit more range and a tree reticle, and I had the EOTECH Vudu 1-10 on my Tavor 7 and that was probably my favorite of the sub-$1,600 LPVOs. |

Another vote for the NX8, I really like it…plenty of optic for 5-600 yards and in. You can find them on the used market for considerably less than new….i think I’ve seen some black models for $12-1300. Attached File |

I had one of the capped turret models with the old reticle and it was a poor match. Euro optic has a “demo” for $1550 HERE the better reticle and cool guy FDE finish would be worth an extra $250 to me. |

Yessir, that’s what you want - that’s exactly what’s on mine in FDE. The only thing that sucks is the good scope caps cost extra…it comes garbage bikini covers standard. Most LPVOs are generally capped turrets since you’re not really gonna be dialing elevation on a 1-8 optic, you’d just use hold overs. Awesome optic and I think you’ll really like it. Makes the 17 a really handy rifle out to decent distances. |
