Marlin new "RM" SBL in .357 caliber. I would like to retain use of the factory sights and think I have it figured out. Scalarworks makes a micro footprint 1.42 mount, pair it with the Holosun ARO, thoughts? The Scalarworks LEAP mounts are great and works with any micro dot pattern like you selected. The only issue with using a riser is that you sacrifice a good cheekweld in the stock. It’s not always a bad thing, just depends on the height you go with. I’d get the lowest mount available that still allows you to use the factory irons. |

I'd probably not do a mount that tall unless you've used them in the past and liked them. Seems way too tall. I'd do a QD mount before I did something like that just Safari guys do. I've seen some cowitness mounts. This isn't the one I saw but it might be what you're looking for. I threw a 1.57 Duty RdS from Scalarworks on my SBL for expediency sake. Needed NV capability. Is it pretty high? Yeah. Is it weird to shoot? Not at all. I’d liken it to the 2+” mounts on AR15s. Actually works surprisingly well. I think you’d be able to use the irons under the mount. I have a LAM blocking mine and I took the front sight off because it was distracting with NV so I can’t tell you for sure. Personally, I think the sights on this thing suck anways. If I decide to go back to irons on this gun I’ll replace the factor with skinners. Attached File |
