The SAR48 is probably the best FAL ever built. Fit and finish is so good. Close second goes to a real FN and Argentine built FALs. See if yours has the slightly heavier target barrel. There should be a small T stamped under the handguards near the breech end of the barrel. Mine has it and it is noticeably heavier than my other standard barrel FAL. |

I don't really like the way the solid stocks look on the FAL rifles. They slope down too much. I'm a big fan of the galil type folders, though. That's why I bought an Arsenal SAM7SF. Solid folders. |

Were you able to see if yours has the "T" marked heavier target barrel? I'm curious to see if all the SAR48s had that or just a few. We have two SAR48s in the family and both have that barrel. Mine is just like yours, the other one is a rare 21" barrel para. Apparently only a handful of the 21" paras were imported we are told. Most SAR48 paras had the approximately 18" barrel. |
