Was just watching some new product videos from Hornady and they talk about a new offering from Ruger in 10mm . Should make a lot of people happy.![]() Hornady 10MM LEVERevolution |

While that lever gun rimless thing has zero interest for me (I like levers but have .30-30, .44-40 and .357 guns) that newbpriming machine that follows the 10mm lever gun looks slick. I already have a RCBS bench priming unit but if I did not I’d be looking at that unit. It looks very well made. My only knock is the priming disc carrier is hand indexed. That is good and bad. It’s an extra step other brands don’t have to do. |
The only hyphenated names I like are cartridge names......30-06, 30-40, 38-55 etc.

The case is a bit shorter but everything else is the same. |

| I don't really see the reason other than if someone has a few 10 mm and no revolvers. 357 out of a rifle is more powerful than 10mm out of a rifle. 357 will typically get 40/ to 500 fps over a 4 inch revolver. 10mm is going to be 200 maybe 250. The two cartridges are pretty close out of pistols. 357 will have a edge in a rifle |

I totally get having revolvers and levers in the same chambering, but a magazine fed pistol (22 rimfires notwithstanding) and a lever in the same caliber makes no sense. (If it did, 9mm and 45 ACP lever actions would be very popular) A magazine fed pistol and a PCC that uses the same magazines however, I get that. I know, I know, revolvers are now being chambered in 10mm, but .41 Magnum makes more sense unless one is not a handloader. But they'll undoubtedly sell a few. |

The rimmed revo cartridges absolutely smoke out of 16" + barrels. But the 10mm legions are large and I think quite a few will jump, tho a semi carbine eating the same mags would be more useful imo. I get the "shared ammo between hand held and shoulder fired", this just gives that to the 10mm cats, I think they will sell for that reason. My friends who ride quads/SXS's with a Glock 20 could use this. They could probably use a Ruger 10mm semiauto carbine even more. But as you said, particularly if starting from scratch, a rimmed revo cartridge gives much, much more horsepower in a longer barrel and is a better by far choice for a pistol/carbine combo if added velocity is an advantage. |

Buddy of mine just bought one a couple days ago. He sent me this picture of it. Said it is fun to shoot with a can on it. Attached File |

Understand the logistics of handgun/long gun. As I'm a happy shooter who picked up a 1894S 20" in .41 back in 88'. Did have Lee make a 6 cav 270gr WFN mold cut for its chamber. Gets 1600 fps with H110/W296. Got revolvers and 14" Contender also in .41 Mag. CD |

I don't think I have a need for one that my .44 levers don't meet and exceed, but I can see the draw for folks heavily into 10mm or folks that don't reload. Not sure about the Hornady lever 10mm ammo though, the only review I've seen of it doesn't look so hot, I'd probably stick with one of the other good 10mm options. ![]() MORE Barrel, Still BAD!...10MM Hornady LeverEvolution VS Underwood! Besides the utter failure of Hornady once again releasing crappy ammo, this thing is awesome and it pairs well with my 10mm revolvers. I am excited to make it tacticool. Most likely with either an extended top rail or an mlok handguard so I can add a light to it some how. But it shoots great with very little recoil and was accurate enough to hit the plates on the dueling tree at 25 yards with ease. Still need to confirm on paper but I am pleased. Will update later to this thread once I have more. Attached File |
