I have a RA 6.5CM predator that takes the flush fit 3 round magazine. I see online that they now have a predator stock that accepts AI pattern magazines. When you remove the rifle from the stock, the insert that holds the magazine in place pops out very easily. Does anyone know where/if you can get the magazine well insert? I tried the magpul stock and may end up selling it. It weighs 3.8lbs compared to the 1.6 of the OEM stock. Besides the stiffness, what I like most about the magpul is the AICS magazine capability. |

Ruger seems to be good about selling spare magwell adaptors to anyone who can provide a valid S/n whether it's the same type or not. Several 7.62x39 AM. Ranch owners have gotten the 5,56/.300 AR magwell inserts to convert from 7,62x39 Mini 30 mags to AR 7,62x39 mags. Note that gen 1 Ranch bolt actions don't have modular/swappable magwell inserts... |

The kit arrived and I had some time so down to the basement I went. Stock rifle  Kit  The kit consists of a roll pin, a little silver pin, spring, magazine catch, the magazine well, and this little black piece  that I didn't know what to do with.After some experimenting, I figured the right way for the catch and spring to mount but I couldn't figure out how to keep the spring in place while I compressed it. Enter the little silver pin. It is the same width as the catch and will allow you to "seat" the pin with the spring compressed. That little black piece? It has a hole just the right size for the roll pin. I pushed the little silver pin out with the roll pin and done! Total time, <10 minutes A few notes. There are two hex bolts that hold the action to the stock (3/16 by the way). The magazine catch blocks access to the rear bolt so make sure your trigger is properly adjusted before installing this kit or a 2 minute trigger adjustment becomes a 20 minute adjustment. Finished product  A few thoughts. It is easy to not quite seat the magazine. Give it a good tug after insertion to make sure it is seated. It will NOT drop free. Overall I like it. The balance point is three fingers in front of the magazine well so it doesn't interfere with side carrying. I will get out to the range soon and see how/if the magazine interferes with shooting at all. |
