Ran 20 rounds through my new Ruger American Gen 1 .308. I cleaned the rifle well and went back to the range a week later.... 3 rounds failure to fire. Each cartridge had a faint primer strike and didn't fire on the 2nd attempt either. Sent it back to Ruger and they fixed it. No other information was given other than they fixed the bolt assembly and test fired 12 rounds for function What ya'll think the issue was, a broken firing pin? |

I know with both of my Gen 1 RAR's if you don't have the bolt all the way closed you will get a failure to fire when the trigger is pulled. I got a click when I pulled the trigger on a deer this year. Thankfully he didn't run off. That's the reason I really like the safety on the GEN II's. (but I hate the fluted barrels) |

My guess is they either gave you a longer bolt (?) or they screwed the barrel in a bit more to reduce the head space. The advantage of the Savage style nut system. kwg |
