I was going through my mom and dad’s old records/receipts and found their notes from some MG purchases back in 1985. They paid $900 for a Colt M16 (US Property marked) and a NIB Ingram M10 for $500. Just wondering if they overpaid for them at the time. At the time they didn’t realize that dealer they were using liked to price gouge. I don’t know if the cost of the stamp was included in their notes. On a side note, anyone know what a new SWD M11/9 was selling for in early 1986? |

I was turning 16 in 1985 and just thought it was cool that mom and pop were getting some full autos. He tried getting a Saco M60 but for some reason the dealer couldn’t get one. I do remember that being priced around $2,800 or so. What’s really funny is that the Sony VCR with camera that my dad got in 1983 was about the same price at the M16 they got two years later. It was a portable system where the deck and tuner were separate from each other. It was that way so the recording deck was portable with the camera. |

On a side note, anyone know what a new SWD M11/9 was selling for in early 1986? I don't know about the 80's, but I do remember ads in the late 90's for Mac 11's $500 NIB , $350 used . Nobody wanted them then. Seems like beltfed Browning 30 cal were always priced about the same as M16's at that time, around 1500-1750 |
