I have had a Reolink system for a while now. I upgraded to a new DVR earlier this year, mine was outdated and did not support some new cameras I wanted. One of the cameras was their night vision cameras, not IR night vision but digital night vision. I watched lots of reviews and it seemed like a neat idea. It’s hard to trust the shill reviews. I have had the cameras for a while now and finally got around to installing them this week. They work very well. Our drive way is wide and long with only one streetlight a few homes down on our street. At night with only using the IR lights, you could barely make out the end of the driveway. With the new cameras, you can see across the street. Figured I would share some pics and give an actual assessment of the digital night vision. If you don’t want to use spotlights, these are fantastic digital night vision cameras. Side note, makes me mad that no one can come up with a digital night vision that works as well as these do for a scope or helmet mount for even 5x what these cost. First pic is of a IR night vision camera off to the side. You can barely see the front end of the vehicle. Second pic is the digital night vision camera. You can see across the street into the neighbors property/ yard. Both pics were screenshot minutes apart.

I have had Reolink for a long time. Did one upgrade already on the NVR and a bunch of cameras. Got to look at what you got sometime for the back yard. Most of my coverage has some sort of automatic or street lighting. Except the back. Thanks for posting. This is from the newer front camera that I can pan and it is dark outside. Attached File |

| What NVR / firmware and what camera did you get? I have RLN8-410 with N2MBO2. I would like a few of those as upgrade if my firmware will do it. I upgraded to WG purple 4TB drives. |

They have a CX-810 now as well which has more MP’s but the 410 still looks better at night with no additional flood lights per many reviews. It is very dark in our neighborhood. No one has outdoor spotlights/ floodlights within 3-4 homes of us, all are only garage sconce type lights that are low output. There is one low light warm street light a few homes down from us. |

Guns cars, clothes, Cams, PCs, E-Cocks, you name it!!!! I bought my NVR, and a POE Switch and 1 Cam to start and see if I could make it work and see how much I liked it... It was so easy, even a Cave man can do it, as they say... :) I have two of those 823a 16x 360deg PTZ cams and I have off set brackets for them that will mount them about 6" out from a corner, so it can see 3 side of the house. I live out in the country and only have one neighbor insight, but using my cam, I can rotate it around and see their cat under their truck at night well enough to identify it. Also I can rotate one of my cams around to see my Steel Targets in the back yard at night with the cam mounted on the front corner... I'm in the middle of running ethernet cable for two more cams now. One that will cover my Garage door and side kitchen door and and another PTZ cam that will cover all of the back yard, the back door, the neighbors back yard and a bunch of the pasture. I plan to keep adding cams every so often till all entrances are well covered and things outside that I want covered at done too. If I could just get fiber out to my Pole barn... :) |

Reolink has been my go to for a while now. I used Amcrest before. They were good and served the purpose. But having motion detection, accurate discrimination settings and the color night vision is a whole other world. I don’t have a night capture. But this is looking from my main front camera. I love the coverage. Attached File |

| With the new cameras that have onboard vehicle/person detection- can you configure the Reolink NVR to only record scenes where those objects are detected? I ran a Reolink system 8+ years ago but eventually went another direction as the motion alerts were just about useless. |

I have it where it only alerts or records when people break the perimeter of my property. Unless it’s a person or animal then they get recorded on the street also. You can also adjust the “size” or sensitivity of the things. |

Also, if it’s set to 24/7 record, you can filter the recordings that have movement. |
