Technically plant not opened for production, I suspect it is very difficult getting through the cost barriers of re-starting operations and competitive landscape with pricing. A US made- all machined steel receiver has to be competitive with Mossberg's aluminum versions, and $100-$200 clones from China and Turkey. They can do volume scale manufacturing to lower individual cost - but a huge acute cost barriers - they could also make some changes to redesign some manufacturing easier and less costly -This requires some concessions and changes in manufacturing which will be another development cost hurdle and some customer acceptance of destroying the legacy as we saw with Illion quality changing to plastic and MIM parts-despite being acceptable to some use. Winchester made Sintered metal receivers for the 94 lever action to make them affordable and profitable but the US base eventually distrusted the change and weakened the desire for that product for some while lowering the price for others. Remington firearms is in a tough spot. |

I’m looking at this item: https://www.brownells.com/gun-parts/shotgun-parts/shotgun-barrels/12-gauge-ext2-tactical-marine-magum-18-barrel-for-remington-870/ I noticed this in the description: “NOTE: This barrel has NO sight blades.” Please excuse my ignorance; what do I need to order to get a “sight blade”? It looks like the barrel has rifle sights. I must be missing something. Please educate me. Thanks in advance. |

Okay, that makes sense. I do have a 20 inch smooth bore barrel with rifle sights on my 870; I guess I should take it out and look at it.  Thanks! ETA: I think I’ll take a look at CDNN as well and see if they have these barrels. I’m not fixated on 18.5 inch vs. 20 inch barrel; what appeals to me is the finish- looking to get a little away from the genuine “Rust in the boxTM” finish on the Express components. In my experience, “Rust in the boxTM” is an apt description.
