I finally received the Frankford Arsenal/Olympic Arms lower back from Victor at US Anodizing. It looks like a brand new receiver. There was a lot to address with this lower. First was uppers would not fit because of the shelf not being machined low enough and the radius near where the buffer tube fits was cut too high. Typical of OLY receivers. Second the takedown pins were out of alignment. Third the sear holes were too close to the top of the receiver and had to be lowered. This also required the pocket to be milled out to the correct depth. Fourth was the magwell needed some relieving for mags to drop free. Which also required some work on the mag catch slot itself. The last thing was the top of the receiver extension area needed to be trimmed down for the charging handle to clear. There was not a functioning problem with this gun. It ran like a top as received with the original upper. I could not put another upper on it so I decided to send it off for a rework. Below are some pics of the milling process done to the receiver. Here are some pics of the finished product " /> " /> " />This work took about 10 weeks from start to finish as it is done between large contract orders. It was shipped as my insurance carrier (Eastern Insurance ) suggested by USPS Registered mail. This method is not for the faint of heart. It took 9 days to get there when it should have took 3-4. The return was even worse. 16 days where is sat in one city for 4 days and 3 days in another. The last leg was the worst where it was shipped back and forth between my local PO and the regional PO three times in one week. This is what it looked like when I finally tracked it down at the wrong PO.  " /> So you can use whatever shipping method you want but make sure your insurance is paid up first. |
| Seems like it would have been a lot less work to cut off the engraved portions of the registered receivers and weld them into a brand new BCI receiver... then add a third hole and refinish. |

Jaqufrost - You should have seen yours prior to the rework. I have pictures of it somewhere that I’ll send. Sear pocket cut and sear pin hole drilled but bare aluminum. It would close on only 1 upper and not well. US Anodizing did a great job on it. |

Good to know that US Anodizing does this kind of work. I sent an OLY SGW "stop sign" lower to M60 Joe -back in the day- for almost all the same work. Registered mail, insured for $18,000.00. It was a nail biting two weeks each direction and will never ship Registered Mail again. FedEx Overnight! |
