So for driving a civilian vehicle with NVGs how does one overcome all the little lights (radio, odometer, gear indicator, etc) that are ever present even with the lights off? Those lights may not seem very bright but under nods they sure do light up the world. Just a thought. It would be fun to hit some off road trails with the Jeep but it's difficult without a way to black out these lights.

Great question. There's a couple methods that work. The obvious way to combat this is to simply cover them up when using the NODS. Lots of options there. Post-it notes, card stock paper, an article of clothing, or even a pre-cut piece of cardboard from cereal box that you just store under the seat. I've also taken a red, green and even black Sharpie to a bulb before which subdued the glow enough to not be a distraction.
