Hello, I'm looking for a multi purpose thermal, mainly to augment/suppliment general NV use and for general SHTF purposes. I like the idea of something that can be helmet mounted or used standalone. Same for weapon mounting. Based on my own research I've narrowed the field to the RH25v2 and the Sidekick Pro 640. Does anyone have recommendations one way or another? There are some pretty decent deals out there right now... Appreciate any input! |

No regrets with either although I feel the V2 is a little easier to navigate the menus. Also I am NOT a "updates" guy and honestly that shit is annoying AF to have to get something in and constantly "update" this firmware, that patch blah blah blah. In the 5 or so years of having the V1, I never did anything like that, never even connected to the net/bluetooth, etc. NEVER had an issue. I like using my stuff, not constantly de-bugging and "updating firmware" to solve glitches, etc. And the RH25V2 is on a temporary price drop currently, which makes it even more palatable. |

I have found the customer service people at iRayUSA.com to be fairly responsive when asked questions (have not needed warranty). -- I am a happy RH25V2 owner. Have never tried the Sidekick. When I was first learning and shopping, I wanted something US made but the prices were out of my reach. Robert at JRE was excellent to deal with. |

I've a sidekick 640 (non pro) and briefly played with an RH25 v1. The RH25 blew the sidekick out if the water. I will say that armasight has a good warranty. I bought my unit 2nd hand, and the warranty doesn't transfer. Even with that, I reached out about an issue with the mum rail coming loose, and they repaired it for free. |
