If they have police or peace officer status they can sidestep most NY BS. I’m retired LE here. I could have bought one when I was working but cannot now. They’re going to have a few pitfalls, mag out front, not in the grip, large cap mag, and the catch all too big. I forget if it’s by weight or dimensions. The way the law is written I couldn’t own a match olympic pistol in .22 lr or .32 S&W Long because of the magazine forward of the grip. I couldn’t legally add one to my handgun license even if in handgun configuration. Same as AR pistols here for the reasons above. Not an FFL, but I did have dinner with my FFL the other night.  You’d be best off calling the receiving NYS FFL to see if they actually have a game plan. Too often someone buys something like that on Buds and it just shows up unannounced and isn’t NYS legal. They generally get turned around and sent back. More than one buyer has demanded their illegal configured gun that the FFL cannot transfer to them. The FFL isn’t going to budge or they’re losing their license. They hate it but they’re stuck with the BS. |
The only hyphenated names I like are cartridge names......30-06, 30-40, 38-55 etc.
