Would I be correct to say a FFL03 cannot sell a handgun to an individual under the age of 21 even if local laws permit the transaction? I have a local guy interested in buying some of my handguns but he is 19. State laws are good with it. |

I wouldn’t sell to a 19 yo unless you know this person really well. Even then they still could do something dumb with the guns they bought from you. I no longer sell any guns face to face but use FFLs as it’s not worth risking my retirement or assets for any potential liability. |

For those of us still in the free parts of the country, what age would you feel comfortable with? Why not 30? I know some dumb 29 year olds. This is why we've been losing. |

Any type of FFL cannot legally sell a hand to a person under 21yo. The the does not specify the license types... it just says "Federal Firearms Licensee"... Federal Firearms Licensees (FFLs): Handguns: Under federal law, FFLs may not sell, deliver or otherwise transfer a handgun or handgun ammunition to any person the transferor knows or has reasonable cause to believe is under the age of 21. |

Since you asked if your FFL03 can sell the handguns to someone under 21 the answer is no federal law prohibits any FFL from that. Example that Deposition on your bound book would show a sale to someone under 21 years old. If you are selling individually under your name yes you are good to go. |
