but had to buy it as its the first I ever saw in person
i dont have my C&R but this i guess this is the place to post this. i was given a choice between this mosin nagant and a SKS for christmas. i had been looking at getting one for a while so i decided to get the nagant. i took it home today and im very happy with the condition its in. the finnish on the metal is pretty good. i cant wait till i get to shoot it.

Here are a few more that I have added. 1944 Sako M39 Mosin Nagant. Built on an antique 1897 Tula receiver.   1948 Izhevsk M44   1940 "AX" 98k. Also alongside my 1940 "27" 98k.   1895 Spandau Gew.88. I also just got 2 more, an Erfurt and Loewe-Berlin.    Walther P.38. AC 41. 100% matching, including the mag. Non-import marked.    |

Bake out the cosmoline with whatever method you find useful and effective. I used a hair dryer to bake the stock over a couple of days, maybe a few hours a night. Continually wipe down with denatured alcohol. Clean the stock with hot soapy water and a scrubbing brush or sponge. Let dry. Some say let it dry after this in the sun. Then lightly sand (although it's not required, but makes the wood feel a lot smoother) with a high grit paper. Then coat with a mixture of boiled linseed oil and mineral spirits (try to make a mixture of 50/50). Let dry, use steel wool to strip off excess, clean off with mineral spirits, then apply another coat. Keep doing this until you get the finish you want. -mark |

I've waited so long for this for so long from CMP and yesterday she finally arrived on my doorstep. I opened up the box and she was wrapped in this silver bag, I pulled her out of the bag and she was flat out filthy and disgusting, she had 2 inches of thick cosmoline all over her, even all the internal parts of the bolt, inside the barrel, etc. had cosmoline it was nasty, I had to wear rubber gloves just to handle her. I went to Home Depot and bought 1 gallon of Boiled Linseed Oil and 1 gallon of mineral spirits. When I got home I took apart the entire rifle down to the last roll pin and began hand picking off all the excess cosmoline as best I could, i then took the mineral spirits and gave everything a bath, let it air dry, then took a heat gun to melt out any remaining cosmoline, needless to say there was a lot left. After that I made a 50/50 mixture of Boiled Linseed Oil and mineral spirits and hand rubbed the entire stock and handgrips to give her a beautiful finish. I cleaned all the metal parts and then let them soak in CLP for an hour or so, then I put the rifle back together and she looked spectacular. This whole thing took about 8 hours to do and was a major pain in the ass... I am NOT looking forward to my M1 Garand that's going to be arriving soon from CMP . My 1953 K31. I shot this for the first time over the weekend. another newb to the relic world. These are both of course off the rack nothing cleaned up on them yet but gives you a before idea. k98 russian capture with markings and enfield no4 mk1 bottom is buddies k98     Im a young paratrooper so its pretty tough for me to find the space time and well...money to enjoy the relics like some of you do. These are off the shelf as shown. They are in gov housing at my squad leader so even having the time and space to clean after shooting is sometimes difficult but as to refinishing ect becomes very hard. There are more purchases on the way garands m1 carbines but Ive gotta have the space for them and I don't like the idea of having 20 rifles stored at my buddies house x2 when deploying in the fall. Pictures also have flash to bring out the flaws in the stock ect but you do what you can with the lighting. Ill get some more pics on sunday at the range. |

What kind of groups are you getting out of that K31... I need to get some pics of my c&r up. I've had the license for 1.5 years and have 4 sks's 1 k31 1 vz24 1 m44 M44's the most fun to shoot. K31's the most accurate VZ is the best looking SKS I'd bet my life on |

Bottom is my 1952 Sistema with all matching numbers and matching (nonfunctional) magazine. There should be a AC41 P-38 on there, but that was stolen a few months ago.http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j114/humanplus/3a49345a.jpg My 1900 Oberndorf m/38 Swede with a stock I refinished because I was stupid and got rubbing alcohol on it and lost a lot of shellac. It looks and feels good, though. A very interesting Bavarian Border Police Postal Meter M1 Carbine with German leather sling and with no bayo lug. It has Scher. Garli written on the leather sling, along with some other things. I like 'em, but I don't have much on you guys. Hopefully I'll be adding a Garand and a 98k soon. Maybe a nicer P-38, too. First I got the Mauser, then I got the M1, and now I need more C&R guns! |

 1914 manufactured Colt 1911, of all the Colt Clones, ARs, 1911s, single action revolvers, this is my only one that I own which is actually a Colt. I had it for years after my father gave it to me. Who bought it from a police officer in Dallas. It was actually stolen when I was a child, but later local authorities returned it. I shot it occassionally never realizing how old it was. After a little research I was surprised to discover it was 92 years old.
