I have a 1938 Mossberg .22 rifle, the rear sight is missing some parts and is basically useless. A Picatinny rail on top of the receiver or barrel would solve my problems. Where could I source the rail? Could I do it myself? Attached File Attached File |

A rail for a Ruger Mk2/3/4 might work, if the receiver diameter is approx the same. I put one on my Mk2, which involved drilling and tapping because it's an old model with no existing holes. Fairly easy if you have a drill press and a way to get a centerline marked on top of the receiver. ETA: My Mk2 receiver measures .996" diameter. Don't remember where I got the pic rail but it's 3.077 long, if any of that helps. |

That rear peep sight didn’t work out as I couldn’t find a matching front sight. I had a rail off my Ruger MK IV tactical laying around and found it fit perfectly. I glued it on the receiver with JB weld and installed a Romeo 5. I just certified it for war. Attached File Attached File |

horrible to do that to that old mossberg ,is that a model 26 varient? the line between Gunsmithing and Bubba seem to be very blurry here , JB welding Picrail to a scarce nearly 100 year old vintage rifle should not be applauded , you can walk into any gunshop or pawn and trip over a Model 60 for $125 that are very accurate reliable rifles and do what ever to , who ever left you that did not want that to happen |

it was/is a clown move , its as simple as that , whats next , JB weld Pic rail on a Kentucky Long rifle? why not ad a KAC foregrip to that .22 , why stop there , lag bolt a tactical flashlight to the stock , sooooo many other firearms you could get stupid with and just draw a chuckle ,some people should stick with AR's for Barbi dress up hope you have somewhere to shoot it other than a range , folks are going to look at you like you are wearing your under ware on the outside of your pants |
