What's that scope mount? Looks like you don't need to replace the stripper clip guide (like with the Springfield mount)? |

Blackjack272, 1st pic 1944 springfield. reparkerized stock cleaned and coated with tung oil. 2nd and 3rd, H&R as recieved from the CMP. No rebuild marks. it looks unused. 4th rear m1 is the same H&R The one in front is an International harvester reciever from the CMP that I built up into a 308 cal. The stock is from Wenig. |
  Danish issue SG SA (March of 1942 receiver, June of 1944 barrel), as received from the CMP. The stock was cleaned with 4 ought steel wool and mineral spirits. I have since replaced the Winchester trigger group and bolt it came with with the correct Springfield parts. |

Mine is not worthy to be in the company of such pretty iron. Here's my 1960 H&R M14 in need of a new stock and re-finish job. Shoots like a champ with all original parts except the trigger group which is SA. I've been thinking about finding an H&R trigger group but not sure how difficult that might be.

Are you kidding me---with the only real m14 on here i feel unworthy---100 bucks for a stock---100-150 bucks for an hr trigger group---and I will be bowing my head!

  The Rundown: Bolt, Op Rod, Trigger group: TRW (trigger job by Smith Ent.) Barrel: Canadian Arsenal GI contour NM. (installed by Smith Ent.) NM USGI gas cylinder; front handguard band mod done Front, rear Sights are NM, stamped "BME." Rings and base are ARMS (#22 med w/ #37 1" inserts; old style #18 ). Obviously, glass has not been settled on yet! Cheekrest by Rooster33. Harris bipod Stock mods: installed and blended garand buttplate; filled selector; front sling stud installed in place of front sling hardware. |

Completely unexpectedly, the FedEx lady arrived delivering my long-awaited Garand from CMP early yesterday morning before I went to work. I immediately loaded up my range gear and had a very productive "lunch". I'm very pleased with the rifle. Overall condition is about what I expected. The stock has nicks and dings, but nothing too excessive and the parkerizing is in decent shape. The bore was very clean and has good rifling left. There were no malfunctions of any kind in the abbreviated range session of about 5-6 clips. I shot mostly Korean surplus, but also a gnarly mix of older surplus of all kinds of different headstamps. I detail stripped the rifle and all the internal parts are in great shape from what I could tell. I think I managed to put the rifle back together incorrectly in all possible ways. It was a great learning experience though. Anyway. Here are the pictures:    Serial number wise, it appears to be a May 1944 rifle. |
