 Pretty sure they assisted me again this afternoon with the shop security. :) Business is not really open to the general public and we rarely ever have any unknown walk up customers. There is no 'welcome' sign anywhere near any of our doors. To the contrary, we have 'No Trespassing' signage posted in several places. Was working this afternoon and had the one door propped open for some air flow and I just happened to look up and see a stranger standing in the open doorway looking around. Asked the guy what he wanted. 'Can I get a cigarette from you mane'. I said, 'No, You can get the hell gone from here. There is no welcome sign on that door homie'. He started saying some shit about looking for some work when I started walking his way and asked the girls if they wanted to say 'hi' to him. (they were both camped out on a big dog pillow out of his line of sight but not more than say 20 feet away) As soon as they got up and rounded the corner and saw him they stopped and started eyeballing him pretty hard. :) He left pretty much immediately without another word. We all followed to make sure he had vacated the entire property and by the time we got to the corner of the building he was a good 100 yards or more away and walking very 'briskly' away from where we were at. :)  Was lucky for the homie that he stepped out of the doorway and their line of sight before he broke out in his run. If they had seen him take off running they would have chased his ass down. No damn way he could have outrun them either. Have seen squirrels try that 'running away' stuff and fail more than once. :)

 Asking the girls if they 'want to say hi' to someone is generally what they hear if I want them to calmly meet a salesperson or delivery person. They know those words mean to be calm and not be getting ugly or running at or barking and such (lest they will get corrected). They have both 'calmly' greeted enough delivery people over the years to have figured out those words and what is expected of them when they interact with 'approved' strangers. They know the words and know the routine. They tend to stay calm and go slow when they hear those words. Saying some stuff to them about 'sunshine' would have got them both instantly bolting for the open door so they could go outside and look around. They know what those words mean and what they are allowed to do when they hear them. It has been a few years since the last few times they got to run and play on ice.   (training is good) |
