Having literally just went down this rabbit hole myself, I will say that the vortex came up many times along the way. It was between the razor hd gen 2, the leupold mark 5hd, and the nightforce atacr for me. I even dabbled in the realm of zeiss and sb. In the end i got the nightforce for a few personal and situational reasons. But I'm thinking they all would have been fine. If you do get it, post back here with your feedback and impressions. |

I have one on my 29” 82. I’ve only shot out to 600 yards but it was nice having the magnification. Eye relief is good. Live shot at sunset and light gathering was good. Like others have said, who cares what it weighs. I put mine in the Barrett mount and it holds zero. I bought mine LNIB for $1,776 in 2020 on the EE though.

I went with a Nightforce NX8, 4-32 on mine. Really depends on how far you can shoot, and how often you can afford to shoot it. I think mine's overkill for me based on the cost of ammo that will hold a long distance group. I just ain't gonna pay for the ammo, or components to use it very much. LC ball at 3 bucks a round is what I shoot most of at 200 yards or less, and I dont need a 32x scope for that. |

Midway had a "blem" version for $1,300, and for almost half the price of the 27X, I couldn't pass it up. It came brand new in the box with no blemishes that I can see. Yeah I’ve got about $300 in a 24” AR500 gong, then welded a frame out of scrap steel. It’s a lot of money but even newbs can hit it at 500 yards with ball ammo. The flight time is long and the report is loud. |

| All I've got on my EDM Windrunner is a Millett LRS 'cause my local (2mi away) range only goes to 200yds. I'd have to drive 2.5hrs each way to shoot at a more challenging distance. On the bright side, I stocked up on components when they were cheap. My ball loads cost less than sixty cents each assuming the brass lasts more than five loadings with annealing. I am running low on the 650gr hollow points though (turns bowling pins to kindling). |

I was going to say it's pretty big and spendy so it really depends on what you plan on doing with it. With the shorter barrel most people are not using them for extreme long range. I've still got a Mark 4 16X I'm thinking about putting on mine. |

I've shot a 1/2 MOA group at 300 with the M82A1 but it's really hard to shoot that consistently because the trigger is soo bad. |

The Vortex Gen III 6-36X is getting better user reviews than the Nightforce 7-35 ATACR over on the Hide. Glass is brighter, clearer and has more pop than the Nightforce. Then if you truly want the best you can get a ZCO or Tangent Theta scope. They are in a different class.
