Gentlemen, I bring you my dilemma. I have a used police 870 Wingmaster with rifle sights, Magpul furniture, sling, and 2 round extension. It will be used as a cabin gun since coyotes, wolves, and occasional bears and moose have been spotted/heard near my cabin. People are also in there somewhere. I may or may not add a side saddle, but my biggest debate is a light. The issue is that I'm looking at a potential 30-50yd shot if something comes out of the woods/driveway and I'm on my deck. I have a handheld light that will reach that far, but I am unsure what sort of mounted light would do so. Do you have any suggestions? It will mostly be used as a slug gun, so something that can handle that recoil would be good. Before anyone asks, I do have outdoor lighting, but it doesn't cover everything. |

| I have a Streamlight 88127 ProTac Rail Mount HL-X Pro USB 1000-Lumen on mine. 50 yards in the dark is easy. I would say 100 yards for most things would be doable. I say "most things" because I may have trouble determining a coyote from a dog at 100 yards in the weeds/brush at night. But a deer vs person vs bear would not be an issue. |
