I've been wanting one as an SBR starter. Found a good deal on one today. I don't like the stock color/pattern, but that's gonna change anyway, so it's irrelevant. Maybe a brace, so I don't have to bother with the SBR process? It's threaded, so maybe a suppressor soon (would be my first)  ? Anyway, the accessories and options are vast, so show me what y'all have done with your Chargers! Maybe I'll be inspired. Attached File |

Academy had the version with the rail on the back on sale a while back and I hesitated a little too long and it was gone, now Ruger has stopped selling them. I guess they're getting the updates the rifles are but I wish I'd have gotten one on sale,

The transformation has begun. The color is rattle can. I hated that weird camo and brown but can't justify spending money on Ceracote for a cheap secondhand .22. The sight is one of those cheap BSA ones that walmart used to sell for $20. I've had it for nearly 20 years, and it's been the first sight for so many of my guns. If it dies tomorrow, it was well worth it. Hell, I spent more than $20 on a mediocre lunch the other day. I installed the 1913 rail stock adapter tonight. Ironically - I might make it more like yours. I didn't think of it until you posted the pic with that flash hider, but I'm pretty sure I have an extra one of those in a box somewhere, and I didn't think of putting it on this thing. Now I'm considering it. I'm also thinking of throwing one of those AR pistol grips form the parts bin on it, just cuz. |

Mine was leopard print, painted it. Bought an 8" finned barrel, and 3d printed the rear rail for the brace. Also used a SEE ALL sight i had laying around |

It's hard to find base 10/22s of any configuration. I know I'm going to customize it, so I don't want the "upgrades." Apparently, finding used ones for sale is rare. This was $275 at my local store. I had to jump on it, in spite of the ugly camo. It had some color rubbed off of the stock, but the mechanical parts are pristine. I'd go as far as saying it looked like it may have never been fired. Yeah, that's a smoking deal, especially these days. I've got enough extra parts on hand to build a rifle or two so I started looking for virgin receivers and found some new ones for under $100 so I think I'm just going to build my own. Try to find a used factory takeoff chassis on ebay, EE, wherever then order that rail section for the back if it doesn't have it and a barrel and have everything else. I found the take down receivers too but they're around $160 or so and I don't know how much I'd actually use that feature, an 8" barrel is plenty of a 10/22 for plinking and tree rats. It would be cool to have an integrally suppressed barrel but then again, an 8" and the can I've already got would be fine, and leave more money for other toys.

definitely find a chassis that you like. there are so many now then decide to either get a brace & make pistol or go forth w/ SBR'ing it  then a dot sight & a trigger |
