Back in October of 23 I bought a Winchester 94 in 38-55.  I decided to send it to Turnbull's Restoration for some work and got it back today.  New wood, case hardening, bluing and fire blue screws.  It took 16 months but the work is what I would expect from Turnbull's.

Absolutely stunning!

I just wish they did tang work (remove the safety) on 94's.

Beautiful rifle, by the way.

I'm surprised there wasn't a pants bulge. That's a nice looking gun.
I have never had a lever gun before but when I see some of these I kind of want one. I have no idea what caliber I would want one in though.

Turnbull's does tang work on 1873's and 1892's but the 1894 internals were redesigned with the addition of the safety so they can't rework those rifles.  I asked for that to be done on mine and that was the answer from their gunsmith.  You can have Turnbull's remove and rework 73s and 92s so that they are exactly as the older models.

The fit and finish on the replacement wood is top notch.

I know. I'm an idiot and bought a new Miroku Winchester 94 with the plan to send it off to Turnbull for some of their magic. When I contacted them is when I found out they don't do that.

Here comes some heresy but I don't get worked up about the safety on the new Winchesters.  I know, I know it isn't the original design but they are still solid rifles.

Very nice, they do good work....

I had a new Japanese model 92 done by them during covid ( good price back then) got rid of the stupid safeties and CCH the good stuff.

For my 1886, I was quoted a price of $1300 from Turnbull to remove the tang safety, weld up the slot and hot blue

That sounds like an "I have enough work as it is" quote.
