Copy/pasta from Facebook +QD points added to rear UGG boot and rear of receiver backplate. +MLOK Front QD mount +ambi right side bolt release +MRGG selector and magazine release button carried over. +New FN grip and Mlok vertical grip design +Longer monolithic handguard/upper in MLOK with end cap. +redesigned upper receiver with additional handguard support screws forward of handguard end. +Torx screws used. +slight modification to the BCG +updated barrel+gas regulator positioning +updated Muzzle brake instead of the PWS FSC30. -Carries over UGG boot design and stock retention latch. -Same NRCH ambi charging handles as prior Scar models. Will it still cost $3k with a poor trigger? I'm surprised the "heavy" appears to still be using the same mags. I would have thought they would update to the sr25 pattern. At the time of the scar, the sr25 wasn't necessarily "the" accepted pattern. But it sure is now. I kinda like it... damnit. |

Looks fantastic except for MLOK handguard. I hope they offer a proper cheese grater replacement. Looks like the handguard can be swapped pretty easily with captive torx screws just like the quick-change barrel system uses. I also hope they offer SBRs from the factory like H&K is doing with the new MR556-A4. *edited and made family friendly due to realizing this is not GD  *

Looks decent, but not super exciting. As someone said on FB, they're just updating the SCARs to what everyone was building them to since at least 2018, if not before. The right side, trigger finger bolt release would be nice, especially if we could get that on legacy SCARs. Incredibly surprised they stuck with with the 17s mags. I was hoping they'd offer a lower that used SR-25/AR-10 mags. |

To each their own, I like the long flat section on the bottom of the KDG rail vs the stock pic rail for shooting off bags and barricades. The good part is you’ll be able to swap the hand guards without removing the barrel with the four captive torx screws at the front. It’ll take 30 seconds. |

The SR-25 mag pattern isnt nearly as ubiquitous as the ar-15/STANAG pattern. |

My big takeaway is the SCAR Heavy barrel looks like the same profile used on a 20S, just shorter. Hopefully it's a 10:1 twist like that too. |

The scar is my favorite gun and I don't know if I like this that much. I for whatever reason like the classic short handguard with the 1913. I loved the look of the scar from the first time I saw it 20+ years ago and never wanted to put a rail on mine because I didn't really dig it. Obviously this is probably better but there's a ton of piston guns that look like this now and probably a 3rd of the price. I like long rails but I don't like them on scars and AKs for whatever reason. I just love the classic look of those 2 icon rifles I guess. I will probably buy a 16 with that said. I don't trust the Jakyl and waiting to see if the bren3 drops but I need a piston 556 gun that's not an AK. |

In to see what’s up with this: updated barrel+gas regulator positioning I have a SCAR 20S in 6.5C and if the new gun’s barrels are not backwards compatible, I’m not going to keep a platform around with a barrel lifespan of 3k-5k rounds if it’s impossible to get replacement barrels at any price (and I’m not fucking with Deadshot with the amount of reported issues those seem to have). |

Agree with your sentiments on the JAKL for certain. As for the Bren 3, I am not holding my breath. Their parts support at CZ for the Bren platform is far worse than FN’s. At least with FN, I can go to Midwest Gunworks and order parts. I also agree with the Penguins fan’s sentiments about FN SCAR 20 barrels. I hope they still make those barrels for those of us who invested in the SCAR 20 platform. |

I'm cautiously optimistic. It looks like it takes the same 6 screw interface and as long as the piston is in the same location it should drop right in even if there are more settings on the regulator or a different gas control screw design. Worst case scenario barrels are one of the legacy parts FN should keep producing for a long time. They were readily available for a long time and once the FOMO wears off, people stop panic buying and the new guns are out I'd imagine they will be again. I'm also hoping the FN machine gun barrel magic means a little more life in the 6.5C. I haven't seen or heard of anyone shooting one out yet. I'll be a little sad if it only lasts 3k, I've only shot 2 matches and done a little load development and I'm north of 600. It's going to suck if I have to factor in $0.30/rd in barrel life to the cost of shooting the 20S in 6.5C. |

FN totally ripped off KDG/PMM/Lingle/Viltor/Imperial Arms on this thing. They didn't even change the barrel on the 17S to a 1:10 twist! The heavier barrel and longer upper receiver increased the weight almost another pound apparently too. I'll be sticking with my Legacy SCARs which I can upgrade to match or exceed the Gen2 Scars, especially with SR25 compatible mag lowers, some of which weigh the same as the polymer lowers and can accept ambi controls. |
