Spent the last three days with a new production DSA SA58 21" Traditional stuck to my hip. Its Bear baiting season, and the boys and I needed a night in the brush. Attached File Sighted it in at 100 yards with PMC Bronze 147gr FMJ. This is only my second FAL, but the irony is both have been very accurate rifles. Shooting around 2" at 100 yards with iron sights isn't typical for me, so either my body and the SA58 meld well, DSA makes very accurate barrels, or I'm just lucky. Attached File 5 shot group for final zero. Attached File Supported from a bog-pod Attached File A few friend stopped by in the process and helped me hammer this plate at 276 yards. Attached File Total of 780 rounds fired in three days with zero malfunctions or stoppage. Used the DSA polymer mags primarily, with a couple Austrian and Israeli Mags tossed in as well. Ive never had an AR10 this reliable. Honestly has been more fun carrying and shooting this rifle than I've had in a long time. Quality of the rifle is next level and the finish is beautiful. |

Just a few more pictures. Most shooting was done in the woods or deer rural maine countryside. Felt fitting. Attached File Attached File Attached File Gas port half closed. Ejection was always strong and consistant. Attached File Newest Rooster in the flock. Training him for personal defense. Haven't seen a sign yet that says no Roosters allowed. Attached File I like DSA. Honestly its the best customer service I've ever dealt with in the firearms industry. What an amazing, kick ass rifle through and through. I'll be buying another. |

Glad to hear of the good experience. I’ve always been a fan of DSA and its products, especially their completed guns. I’ve built many FALs using their receivers and their parts. I have an 8.5” pistol that I built into an SBR and it too has been reliable. And I've also had good luck with their polymer magazines. |

Im already looking at the 16" Model with 5/8x24 threads and the para stock. What a perfect Bear baiting gun. |

I had built a para with 18” barrel back around 2010 using a kit and DSA parts. Turned out really nice. Had to sell it when my wife was sick but I knew I wanted to replace it so I built a DSA pistol into an SBR. Attached File |

I bet its a kitten with the can on it. Currently only have access to an indoor 25 yard range so accuracy testing hasn’t really happened. It really shoots great with and without the suppressor. I’ve never thought the 8.5” barrel shooting .308 was all that bad and with the suppressor is quieter than shooting a 5.56 AR. |

If a guy just wants a dead black bear, no reason why you cant get 100% success up here baiting. Hunting land and black bear are plentiful. Now if you get stuck chasing that one big one its a whole different game. Big black bears only get big because they are smart, and seem to go about 80% nocturnal. Ive gone two years empty handed myself because I've been chasing the same big guy and only he will suffice. Honestly ive popped probobly 30% of the bear in my life while hunting whitetail. Just wandered out in the field. For bear stands 50 yards and in though, a 16" SA58 with a can and the DSA suppressor plug with a red dot seem oh so sweet. Folding stock for climbing up the stand.. and 308 goodness to make sure I'm not chasing a blood trail 50 yards in the pucker brush. |

Well I figured id update to this thread for anyone looking at DSAs SA58 offerings. Exactly 1023 rounds later and three dead whitetail and no malfunctions.. im tickled pink with this rifle. Im going to be purchasing a 16" para model now. This rifle has been carried extensively and the finish has also held up rock solid. Three DSA polymer mags and one DSA 5rd mag have all been flawless. I only load my 20rd mags to 19 (old habit) and I dont abuse my mags, so keep that in mind as well. Attached File Attached File Attached File Attached File The other side of the racoon is gone. This has been my least picky semi-auto 308 I've ever owned. Can't believe I went the first 30 years of my life without one. Shame on me. |

I agree, out of the barrel lengths DSA offers for the para, 18" is best. I am partial to FN's 17.2" length myself. Even with a 21" barrel, the para folds down to about the length of a 16" AR.
