IRIS 4 looks very interesting. With the added white light with its 1000 lumens and 25,000 candela it's not a bad weapon light. Bit weak compared to a Surefire DFT Pro candela wise, but still pretty darn good and with an overall weight of like 8 ounces for an IR LAM and White Light all in one, that's not bad. Plus, it will come in around $999 for the IRIS 4. |

It’s made for longer range rather than PDW style weapons that the IRIS 4 would be used for. The regular DF Pro is 1500 lumen and 16,000 candela which is what I run on my 300blk. I think it’s a pretty good compromise |

I think it’s a pretty good compromise It makes you wonder why Surefire has not tried to enter the LAM market? Of course they tend to be “proud” of their stuff and I’d imagine their pricing would probably make B.E. Myers blush. Just imagine for a minute, they made a lightweight device with a form not dissimilar from the phantom Hills CTF, powerful. DFT pro on one side, VSCEL illuminated on the other side, IR/vis lasers slaved and In-line with the bore and as low profile (or lower) than a DIR-V and made it available for like 2 grand? I would imagine they’d be unable to keep up with demand for several years if they dropped that product. |

I decided to build a test bed for my current inventory of LAMs. I’ll do some testing and post the results. If nothing else I can’t wait to see what it looks like with all the lasers and illuminators running at the same time. Attached File From left to Right: Streamlight Super Tac IR (this LED-based illuminator is a monster of IR output and is basically unusable except for extremely open, long range scenarios), Holosun IRIS-3 (let’s be honest, that’s the one we all want to see here), Streamlight TLR-VIR-2, Rovyvon GL4 Pro (with beam hood made from the cap of a Poopouri bottle to tamp down the stupidly broad flood illuminator), Somogear PEQ-15 (That never held zero, IR illuminator focus didn’t work and the case split), and finally the Toughsoul MAWL-ish LAM (that I haven’t really spent a lot of time testing). I think it’s a pretty good compromise Yeah, the 1000 lumens should be enough for what I want it for, because if I'm doing anything long range outdoors at night I'm probably just using night vision or thermal anyways not shinning a white light at it. Honestly, I like it for PDWs, but even on a full sized rifle the IRIS 4 might be worth it. At any rate, can't wait to see what kind of performance its white light head has, hopefully we can see that in the SHOT Show videos this year. I'm really excited to see that new pistol sized Thermal sight that Holosun teased last year, looks like it might be closer to production. |
Hop's video on the IRIS 3 is up, another solid review with some of the same points made already. The remote switch activating the viz laser even when the unit is off was also an issue with Hop's IRIS 3. Other than that, glowing praise from Hop to add to all the other praise the IRIS 3 has received. This LAM is going to dominate the civilian market, perhaps even more so than the Holosun pistol optics are dominating the civilian pistol optics market. ![]() The Holosun IRIS is finally here |

Note the name "holosun" is not embossed on the right flank of the device as per the "current" IRIS. https://i.imgur.com/QM8NQUl.jpg On digging further there seems to have been some form of proto-type version that had a button and toggle switch on the back as opposed to two toggle switches. I have emailed the reseller asking them to confirm the IRIS is the correct model and not some neutered pre-production version dumped on them (its likely the reseller isn't aware of this). If anyone is aware of other or earlier IRIS models that made it to market or were dumped in different jurisdiction please let me know the details or specs if they exist and where they can be downloaded from. Probably just overthinking it. The reseller likely used an old photo of the Iris and you will get a current retail version. |

As others have stated, that was the photo released for everyone to prepare for the presales. Zero preproduction models were ever seen outside of shot show and Holosun’s own media dept. It never ceases to amaze me what people on this board choose to get worked up about. I bet you emailed the ATF asking permission to use pistol braces and angled foregrips. |

lol, I'm not worked up - just checking and just for your benefit, I called the reseller and they are checking their inventory Update: email from reseller confirmed it was the wrong version and the IRIS-3 will be available from them, in my jurisdiction in March. They are refunding my payment. |

So they refunded your payment because the item you paid for isn't the current version iris3, it's a different version? What version exactly are they supposedly selling while awaiting the iris3, since there's literally only one version that has been released anywhere? |

My best guess is AUS is used as an early adopter country, feed back is generated and built into new models. This certainly happens with thermals e.g the Iray range was out in AUS well before it was available in the US, the same happens with cars and various 4WD variants. Its not a big deal, the Iris 3 will ship in March. To be frank I just want to try it out and compare it compare with others that I own with cheaper stuff moving down to the firearms that tend to spend the most time in the bush if appropriate. |

Or is it more likely that they simply had an outdated product photo and description and are either preselling what will arrive in March, or this whole thing is just a ruse to save face from having gotten called out over getting worked up over an outdated product photo? I know which one sounds more likely to me. But whatever you say. |

The IRIS 4's success for me will be determined by its flood vs. spot light. I favor white lights with a bit more flood and in the case with a 1000 lumens, but just 25K candela I'm guessing that throw would not be its primary and that it will have decent flood as well. However, my understanding is that the recently released Holosun RAID leans more towards the spot light/hot spot and less towards flood. I do really like that the 4 would basically save you from the weight of a separate white light mount and only adds like two onces to the weight of the IRIS 3. Having an all in one would be nice even on full sized rifles. I saw a picture from SHOT of the IRIS 4 and it appears to come wth a remote dual pad pressure switch, but I do NOT know if the Viz override on the 4 will activate both the Viz laser and White light simultaneously. I'm hoping that it does, because if If I need to to a Viz override I'm going to want both the white light and the green laser to activate at the same time from the same pressure pad press. |

I mean honestly, that's a fair point. When the original Holosun civilian laser line was released those were around $1K and I think within a year or so they were selling at around $750. I wouldn't be suprised if the IRIS 3 was selling for around $800 or $850 by the end of summer '26. |

Sooo ... Finally got my first of 2 Iris's in. USPS is a disgrace, but I digress; anyways, when I opened this up I was SHOCKED at how small this thing was. Keep in mind I've seen a ton of pictures and videos already, but in your own hand, it's still shocking. Took it out briefly tonight, was a bright night with a lot of supplemental lighting from another house near my property, I was easily pushing through their photonic barriers at 200 yards with the illuminator. So far I give this thing a 10/10 considering the output from such an incredibly small package. Ergos are amazing too. Good job holosun and shout out to JRH for getting me into my first unit. |

Maybe this isn't a big deal, but in anything short of length, it is a bit irritating. This issue is resolved, however, by my second gripe: the factory switch is big and bulky. I'm not going to use it, so it I guess it won't interfere with my Modbutton going right behind the laser. My third issue is one that I continue to be irritated with when it comes to almost all LAMs on the market. Why does the fire button have to be on top? I have had, and currently have, a number of LAMs, over they years and I don't understand why modern designs don't incorporate a ramped rear end with an ergonomic fire button. My 3EIR and Phantom Holl CTF-2 both have extremely useable and comfortable fire buttons on the back, and the 3EIR also has the benefit of a Crane port so there is some redundancy offered. Why is this so hard for everyone else? It seems like an easy and sensible detail to incorporate. Those issues aside, this seems to be the market killer like everyone else is suggesting. It seems like a great design, with great features, and for an unbeatable price. It's narrow enough that I can mount still mount my white light on an angled mount instead of an offset mount like I need with a PEQ-15 or similarly sized laser. I like it. I'm looking forward to hearing more once people put them through their paces. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54272562975_443f62a4c5_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54272381033_3130a194ed_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54272140756_379dbb4c57_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54272140751_b5b90d7e46_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54272562955_8404a8a921_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54271250622_4b2124983a_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54272562910_849bebf858_b.jpg Holosun is showing the IRIS 4 with a dual pressure pad remote switch that offers two crane plugs for the IRIS and their Raid White Light (although any other accessories that offer crane port plug-ins would work as well). Unfortunatley, while it does have the Viz override the press of the Viz Override still only activates the Viz Laser and does not simultaneously activate the white light. |

Looks like the IRIS 1, 2, and 4 will not released until late 2025. ![]() So, unfortunately, it looks like we've got some time to wait for the IRIS 4. I've been looking for any night time or dark room video of the IRIS 4's white light, but haven't found anything yet. What I want to know is whether the IRIS 4 will have decent flood or if it's a more directed beam. |

I see that the dual switch has two leads that separately connect into the IRIS 4 (one for its white light side and one for the LAM side). I'm gussing the viz override just connects with the LAM side. I'm happy about the looks of those switches, do we know if they will sell just the switches alone separately? Plus, do we know the prices on just the switches? |
