I've been on a SHOTGUN binge recently and ran across what I considered a pretty nice deal for a Rem 1100. I watched it on GunBroker for a week and initially wasn't interested too much but then I realized it had a factory Remington 3-shot extension, those extensions are hard to come by and are actually selling between $200-$300 depending on condition... then it hit me... grab the 1100 because I like them BUT I can re-use the mag extension on one of my 20" 870 Police Magnums that I'm refinishing... win-win. After a few back and forth last minute bids I won closing at $490.00. Of course with tax, shipping, and a transfer fee, I was at $609.00 total. After deducting about $150.00 for the extension, which would be a great deal at that price, I'm in for about $459.00 for a pristine Rem 1100. I also have a 28" vent rib barrel sitting in the safe that I can attach for hunting birds or shooting clays. I don't see much for wear on this SG and the bolt face looks pretty darn clean. I think it sat unused for a long time. Barrel code puts it at May 2005. I say there are still some good deals on GunBroker. Here she is after removing the extension...     |
I've bought three Remington shotguns this year  I set out for an 1100 in 20 gauge, ended up trading a pistol for an 1100 in 12 gauge, then score an 870 Wingmaster in 20 gauge (thinking I'd not find a good deal on a 20)... Then took a gamble on GunBroker for an 1100 in 20 gauge with a rusted receiver and a stuck choke tube.  12ga classic Trap as I bought it  project stock to refinish and replace the raised comb   all together  870 impulse buy (I didn't even get a proper picture of it)  Now the little brother LT-20 1100 The choke tube was easily removed. receiver corrosion close up, there is some on the barrel but it's not as bad  I'm still working on the finish but it shoots very nicely.  I've been busting a lot of clays with them  |

| A 20ga Wingmaster would be sweet. I always thought it would be cool to have a whole set including 28 and 410. I knew a guy that had a couple 1100 Sporting's that were really nice. |

Now you have me curious, I have an old cruiser gun 870 with an extension, I don't know what kind it is. |

Fair enough, that's all collector's territory now. $150 is 87% of a new Maverick 88, it's amazing that little ole Mossberg beat out Winchester and Remington. |
