Pix and text link Above pic shows that the forward sling mount is on the side of the gas block. From Ruger description: "Full-size walnut stock, including wood top cover is cut to utilize the M1 carbine sling/oiler, and the gas block features a left-side sling swivel." It was not stated by Ruger if an M-1 Carbine sling and oiler is included, and I would not count on it, since the sling and oiler is not specifically mentioned in the list of "included" items described in Ruger's text: "Also includes: Hard case, two magazines and scope rings." Wonder if Stainless version will be offered? YT vid on how to correctly install M-1 sling and oiler; this method prevents the metal sling cap from striking the wooden stock, possibly causing noise and/or finish damage: Vid |

| Visually, thumbs up. Bayonet lug and flash suppressor, double thumbs up. But I watched footage of Rugers being made. The Mini-14 receiver is (or at least was a decade ago) cast and lightly machined before going to a station where they bend it back to within tolerance. If the receivers were from a forging, I'd think about it. If it were forged and full auto (eff Hughes and the horse he slept with) like they used to make I'd buy it in a heartbeat. Quality comes first so thanks, but no thanks. |

You're fine with service rifles using aluminum receivers that some people mill out w/ a drill press, but cast & machined stainless steel is too weak for you?

Newer "Heavy-Barreled" Mini-14s seem to shoot (out of the box) within 3 MOA, which is "acceptance standard" for GI M-16s. Many 3rd party users report significantly better accuracy when using high-quality commercial ammo and handloads. This ain't your Grandfather's Mini-14. |

Bill Ruger pushed evil looking gun bans while he was alive; Ruger the company now ships 30 round mags w/ their AR, but still reaps the financial benefits of sticking it to gun buyers behind enemy lines. Ruger has a fixed price policy they enforce at the distributor level, and they artificially inflate the price of the Mini to rape gun buyers victimized by their late founder's advocacy. |

Make no mistake, the Antis will try to Ban all semi-autos eventually, so even the Mini is "in danger" of being Banned. |

Unfortunately, the Antis back then did both with the 1994 Fed AWB. I was there, before and after. Bill Ruger was perfectly willing to throw so-called "Hi-Cap" mags under the bus to save the Mini platform. That done, such would have allowed importation of loads of foreign semi-autos. As it turns out, both importation of foreign semi-auto rifles, and "Hi-cap" Mags were banned. Yes, Bill Ruger's magazine suggestions were self-serving. Under the circumstances, I don't blame him, at that point in time. Afterwards, Ruger came to understand his errors in thinking that the Antis were "reasonable" and understood that a complete banning of civilian firearms was their ultimate goal. FWIW, Ruger, Inc has been the pre-eminent funder of expensive lawsuits against the 2A. Again, self-serving, but benefits us all. |

How is it unduly harsh to criticize Ruger today for pricing the Mini far above its intrinsic value to take undue advantage of gun owners in communist states? |

"The best way to address the firepower concern is therefore not to try to outlaw or license many millions of older and perfectly legitimate firearms (which would be a licensing effort of staggering proportions) but to prohibit the possession of high capacity magazines. By a simple, complete and unequivocal ban on large capacity magazines, all the difficulty of defining 'assault rifle' and 'semi-automatic rifles' is eliminated. The large capacity magazine itself, separate or attached to the firearm, becomes the prohibited item. A single amendment to Federal firearms laws could effectively implement these objectives." Bill Ruger in the September 1992 American Handgunner quoting the March 30, 1989 "Ruger Letter". "No honest man needs more "than ten rounds in any gun," and "I never meant for simple civilians to have my twenty- or thirty-round mags or my folding stock," and then said: "I see nothing wrong with waiting periods." Bill Ruger in an interview with Tom Brokaw. Bill Sr never recanted and it wasn't until he died and Bill Jr ejected that Ruger the company reversed a lot of Bill Senior's policies. And they certainly deserve credit for doing so, but it's important we don't forgive Senior for things he never apologized to us for. |

Everything Ruger has ever made is investment cast. Close. The Standard and MK series of .22 pistols weren’t/ aren’t cast. |
| Buy a used big boy ''mini'' and just get a M1A/semi M14 for the same price. |
Liberals are a curious mix of communism and fascism, they want to destroy you but want to use your own money to do it.

It's an unreasonable expectation on my part, but... 30 years ago I bought a Ranch Rifle because it was cheaper than the AR's on the rack at the gun shop. It was around $400 back then. The Mini hasn't benefitted from competition driving down parts prices and CNC manufacturing like the AR has. |

| I really like the looks of the blued anniversary Mini 14. I had a stainless 183 series which I liked but sold it to buy my first AR-15. My farther in law has a Mini 14 GB stainless 183 series which is in like new condition. I wonder if the actual M-1 Carbine oiler and sling will fit this Mini 14’s stock. Ruger says it is the M-1 carbine style so hopefully it does. |
