Like the subject says, I'm looking for advise on how to clean a barrel with a dedicated suppressor attached. I'm trying to avoid POI shift and having to re-zero every time I clean, so I don't want to remove the suppressor if at all possible. The barrel is chrome lined so I've also considered just not cleaning the bore at all, but I'd prefer the option to clean. I'm thinking an Otis Ripcord would be best since it doesn't have a brass brush, it won't leave a cotton patch or something behind to get trapped inside the suppressor, and I can control how much oil/solvent is used to avoid pooling inside the suppressor. Has anyone tried this approach and is there anything I'm overlooking? Is there a better way? Thanks in advance! |
| Just make witness marks, remove the suppressor, clean as you normally would and reinstall the suppressor. Run it 1500 or 2000 or 3000 rounds between each cleaning. Seems like you are making an issue out of something that isn't really much of an issue. |

If you are talking direct thread, it "might" be an issue if you don't torque it to the same spot every time. On my ARs, they primarily use the SureFire SOCOM QD system and I've had zero issues with changing POI. On my bolt guns that are either DT or use the Area 419 mounts, I don't have any issues with changing POI either. |
