Decided to make a form 1 using the Makera Z1 desktop CNC machine and some metal stock.

It's modular baffles with threads on both ends.

Blast chamber and end caps not shown, those are pretty basic and easy.

Also have work holding fixture designed to quick hold each baffle for operations on both sides.

Using 4th axis to engrave NFA text.

All that's needed is the desktop CNC machine, 6 to 12 2" blocks of metal and some time, most of which will be spent just waiting for the machine to finish each operation.

Why this design style?  Simple... no external tubing needed.  Should work ok for 9mm and 45ACP.   22lr can can be made by scaling down design.

maybe a copper gasket above the threads to keep carbon out of the threads

Interesting idea.  Do you have any thoughts on using a 3d printed TPU gasket?   Easy to print and uses pennies of TPU filament.

Reminds me of the designs by now defunct Rebel Silencer.  They tried to use aluminum for their rifle designs...not very good material choice.  But great for 9mm!

Care to share a few photos of the desktop CNC setup you have and what material you are planning on using?

Yes, I will document the process.

My thoughts were to cover the CAD design, then discuss making the work holding fixture for quick position changes and also engraving.

There are valid concerns about aluminum, I'm looking at steel options at McMaster.   If anyone has thoughts, please feel free to share.

What is the work envelope?  I can't find a peep on the Makera site.  Found it, 7.9 inch work volume.  Next I need to know whether the tail stock will accept a drill chuck.  There's no choice but to dig into the manual.

For a handgun silencer,

Heat wise, 6061-T6 will probably surprise you unless you're doing long magazine dumps.  The heat transfers quickly out of 6061 and the strength remains pretty fair.

Strength wise, the part thickness can be adjusted.  Without spending more than 10 seconds to come up with a number, I would design to 30 ksi with a temperature knockdown, including the safety factor.

Keep your powder dry, and watch your back trail.

I'm watching my back trail.

You can even mix materials. 6AL4V for mount/blast and first baffle, 6061/7075 for remaining.

You should be able to pop these out quite complete. Simple threaded/clamping jig to index for clipping.

You shouldn't need gasketing. If you're never going to get it real hot, Teflon tape will be fine. You can also slather the threads with a nickel anti-sieze and not worry. Design for the base to index off front of previous. Create a seal there.

You have a Makera?

I'm interested. Too bad it's not big enough to cnc a lower as well.
