The hype seems to be real. Couple hundred rounds so far on a 16" and 14.5", 11.5 and 10.5 will be in the full review. Crazy how much suppression you're getting out of such a small can; the RO at the match I shot with it asked if I was shooting .300blk subs. I should be getting a full size Echo Core Sector 556 fairly soon, and hopefully the Compact after that, which I've also heard is a really quiet little guy. Hopefully I can get my hands on a Rhodie (Ti preferably) in the future, as those also look excellent. Here is the full review! |
| Short clip of my Rhino x on my 11.5. It's very nice on there. Hoping to get my Vanish 556 picked up end of this week, and maybe being able to compare them this next weekend. |
| Ok, I think i am convinced enough to go for the X. Short, lighter, sort of flow, tough, good suppression, better than the Razor 762 my SHTF weapon wears. Thanks! |

I know this thread is about the Rhino X shorty (5"), but looking through their Rhino vs. Rhodie offerings, I'd be interested to see how the Rhodie 6 (with it's 6mm-bore) compares with their dedicated 5.56-bore cans. From performance stats alone, not sure why someone wouldn't buy the "full sized" 6mm over the 5.56mm ones. Manufacturer's specs show the shorter and lighter Rhodie 6 at the same quiet-level as the longer and heavier Rhino S (using apples to apples material options). Manufacturer's specs show the Rhodie 6 only a half-inch longer than the 4dB louder Rhino X. Add in a more forgiving bore to avoid strikes, that R6 seems a sweet spot in their lineup. Yeah, I guess money plays a role, but hey - like I always said when I was selling cans - "the money grows back, your hearing doesn't." :D • Rhino S = 6.0", claimed 132 dB, 9.5 oz titanium version • Rhodie 6 = 5.5", claimed 132 dB, 8.5 oz titanium version • Rhino X = 5.0", claimed 136 dB, 12.5 oz inconel version |

Inconel: 15.5oz I would personally prefer the inconel for night time/NV use. I have the Sahara 300 in TI, and the occasional sparking is visible at times in just slight shade when being shot with 300 blk subs. Having said that when I got my Rhino X last year the Rhodie wasn't out yet. And of course 200 bucks difference is 200 bucks when chances are your going to be using hearing protection anyway with a 556 rifle. So I'm guessing the Rhino X is going to be viewed as their slightly more budget friendly, hard use can. Now it would seem the titanium version of the Rhodie does kind of obsolete the Rhino S, given the same sound performance in a lighter package at I believe the same money. |

I really like mine. It's a reasonably priced can and sounds great IMO. I run mine on a 10.3" but originally had it on an 11.5", both guns sound good with it. Odd question: Why were you shooting your initial shots left handed on your rifle and the match video clips you're shooting right handed? Just thought it was weird. |

Left eye dominant so for precision I shoot lefty, close range righty. |

Later I found a Silencer Analytics video testing 556 cans and the T3 was loud to him but liked the Rhino X a lot. I guess I will find out myself soon enough and see once i get all the HUB mounting pieces. |

Been using my RhinoX on SBRs for a few months now, really impressed with it so far, great performance for the size, very good flash mitigation in low light. Shot it today comparing to a Rhodie 6, Vent 1, and M4-2000, on 10.3 to 11.5” SBRs. (The host for the M4-2000 has a .059 BRT gas tube, H3 buffer, and GI carbine spring, to make it quieter at the ear/less gassy). Ammo was Federal XM193. Environment was outdoors, with a sheet metal building behind me, trees at about 25 yrs on the other 3 sides. Shot into the dirt at close range to negate the supersonic crack, and into a berm farther away. To my ears (I do not have perfect hearing, been around a lot of loud stuff for many years), they all sounded very similar, very little difference in noise level. Tone of course is not the same. Rhodie 6 is a little less back pressure than the RhinoX. I will have to repeat this in a wide open environment, but so far, hard to for me to tell a difference. All of these cans have reputations as good performers, and I’m happy with them. |

I can say that the Rhino X is quieter than the traditional Recce 5K, which is the only Griffin can I’ve got. |

Picked up my Rhino X today. Ridgebacks website says it weighs 12.5 oz, my scale says 13.5 oz. 15.2 oz with the Kaw Valley HUB mount. Weighed on a second scale, same thing. Attached File |

Having a lightly gassed gun in the first place makes a big difference in user satisfaction with the Bootleg carrier. Tyrns out, it’s a good can, but with a lot of backpressure and I was using a host set up very sub-optimally. The only two sources I’ve found that have decibel tested the Bootleg carrier with the appropriate meter only tested settings 1 and 4, and it performed horrendously. Took me a while to figure out why. |

Ok, hit the range for a little bit today. I took my T3 and Rhino X. T3 was on an 11.5 tuned SBR using a BRT EZTune gas tube and a Bootleg adjustable BCG set to the second suppressed setting. The Rhino X was on an 11.5 Geissele SD complete upper, no tuning. Both weapons had Kaw Valley short radial brakes on them. Let's just say that I will be getting another Rhino X or more likely and Rhodie 6, also in consideration is a Fireteam 556. The T3 will go back in the safe, not sure where it will go. I will say that the sound difference was definitely noticeable, by a lot. The tone was deeper too. I won't shoot without foamies even when suppressed with 556. Ridgeback did great with this and I will be looking at their other cans like the Sahara 300 and the Rhodies. I am sold. I would like to try something from Exigent Defense though as well. I can't believe the performance, can't wait to try the Rhodie 6 on an SBR. I tried both about 7 feet from the berm, in front of the covered firing line, and underneath it. The Rhino X took all three, will need one now for my HD weapon. Attached File |

Double tap. Did some flash testing last night; M193 from an 11.5” barrel. I’d call that pretty great for the first round flash. Attached File |

Recce 5K is probably better on flash, that's it. And the Recce 5K is not a bad can at all, it's just crazy how fast the technology is advancing these days. |

The 5k is probably roughly equivalent to my beloved Explorr 224. I haven't bought any cans since the tax went to zero since I realistically have too many as it is, but I may have to check one of these out. |

There is no comparison, the Rhino wins everywhere except weight. I’ve primarily been running a DD 11.5” upper that is way overgassed. With the Explorr, I had to go to a Bootleg BCG on the fully suppressed setting to even be tolerable. Got my Rhino X a couple months back. Like Ronnoc, it was heavier than advertised, 13.5 oz without a mount, 15.5 with. Compare to the Explorr, which is under 10 with the built in taper mount, but an inch longer. However, when shooting, the Rhino blows it away. Dramatically quieter, with a deeper tone. Dramatically less gas as well, I may go back to the factory BCG. I have a SAW Ekron 30 inbound from Capitol Armory, it should arrive any day now. Can’t wait to compare to it as well. |

Trying to decide if I get another Rhino X or go go with a Rhodie 6, been also considering an Exigent defense Fireteam 556. The Rhodie, I believe, is up to 6mm, not that I will ever be getting one, to heavily invested in to 6.5 stuff. |
