Is there a replacement buttplate option that can convert a crescent shaped stock into a flat buttplate?

John Masen makes an extended rubber recoil pad but it is curved plus a flat version I found on Galati International. Hogue makes a Ruger Mini 14 over molded rubber stock with a straight recoil pad that is about $90. IIRC, modern Ruger "flat butt" wood Mini stocks are a little longer in "Length Of Pull" than the wooden Ruger "crescent" stocks. Modern "flat butt" Ruger syn stocks a little shorter than wooden Ruger "crescent" stocks. Other mfrs may have varying LOPs. The main difference in some of these stocks is as regards the internal metal stock reinforcement which is secured to the stock by two screws. The Mini-30 stock reinforcement is wider than the Mini-14 stock reinforcement, possibly requiring a little whittling of the wooden Mini-14 stock to fit. Some folks like the crescent stocks; might pay you to sell it and get a "flat" stock. If butt plate on crescent stock is original early metal, instead of later plastic, price goes up a bit. |
