The Mag Tube is the Takedown Mechanism. Locked and released with a takedown knob at the muzzle end of the mag tube. Very similar to the Takedown Carbine Conversion that was published in The NRA Gunsmithing Guide. (1982 edition).
It has between 250-300 round through it.
