Looking for a quality mares leg. Not sure what caliber I want to go yet, so leaving that open. Are the Henry's the go to? Or are the Rossi mares legs better? Or perhaps some other brand? Thanks! |

Rarely do I call a firearm worthless; case in point: Shockwave/TAC “firearms” are far from worthless. OTH, Mare’s legs are essentially worthless…unless SBRed. I have a 44 Rossi and it is a very nicely made firearm…but essentially unshootable w/o a stock. Well, you can shoot it but there’s no way you’re hanging onto that fore end except with a C-grip. I got my stock and a few other upgrades here. |

IMO mares legs are worthless unless you go the SBR route. Also if you plan to use a can then a side loading gate is a must. I looked at a Rossi Ranch Hand but wanted stainless so built my own from a 92. Also converted a Henry Mares Leg to SBR using a deluxe stock set. If you go this far down the rabbit hole it might make more sense to convert a different gun to a SBR. By far one of my favorite builds is a Marlin 1895GS shortened to 12.5". Rossi 357  Henry 45 with Marlin 45-70

For some reason, I recall that the stock number ends in 55. Apologies that I didn't keep that stock #.  |
