I don't actually own an AUG/MSAR platform and purchased a malaysian surplus trigger pack as a project to reverse engineer/recreate in CAD. While performing a onceover of the trigger pack I noticed that on the burst cam it looks like there is a groove for a spring but no spring present. It kinda just freely spins back and forth on its axis until it reaches the rear of its travel. Again, this isn't a conversion question but moreso one of mechanical inquiry since this was obtained as a surplus piece and for a design project. I appreciate any feedback in advance!  As you can see, it looks pretty obvious like a spring should hook into that hole and have clearance along the groove, but no spring is present. I cannot get a good view of the other burst packs available on the market and have not been able to locate a blown-up armorer's diagram for it either. |

I own a steyr AUG machine gun with a burst pack and I'm pretty sure you are correct and it is missing a spring and the spring goes in that hole. As far as getting that spring goes I don't think there is any way to do that other than cannibalizing it out of another pack. Or possibly making it yourself. The good news is that even if the burst mechanism is not working the full auto will still work. So there's a little red lever on the bottom and a slot that it can move for and aft in and one end of the slot has an f for full and the other end of the slot has a three for burst. When you move the red lever from the f to the three all it does is simply slide the sprocket out of alignment and disengage the burst mechanism. |
