| Depends on what’s under those SD handguards…. Actual SD shroud…not bad. Some jury rigged shit? No cheaper than taking a standard full size and having the front end converted. No actual SD barrel was a solid fail. They should have done a fake SD can over the standard SD ported barrel. Opportunity missed. |
|
If I have to describe my disappointment seeing those pics it would be something like seeing a smoking hot Turkish German mixed chick at the bar and as I’m getting closer about to make moves to take her home I see exposing nuts sack (aka the trilug barrel).. |

If you SBR it and want to change the brace to a stock, you can buy this A3 stock end that fits the magpul brace for $20. Not me, no affiliation with the seller of these. |

I don't know the exact ID of the shroud off the top of my head but there is some extra clearance with a standard SD can so the Wolfman may fit. If I had to guess the ID of the shroud is probably something like 1.7 or 1.8", so it'll *probably* be ok. |
| The diameter of the cage is not the only issue, the cocking tube support hangs lower into the cage, not by a lot but 40mm or 1.5748" is the max size I would want to attempt to put in there. The Wolfman is 1.625" in diameter. You can try it but you might be in for a nasty gouge in the side of the can. |

Just need the right length faux can? Could be difficult but pricey but that never stopped me from expanding my collection. To bad I cant get one with a real can instead |

I'll check them out. |

It will sound identical to any other AP5 suppressed. |

If I remember correctly, there were some major problems at the beginning of the MP5SD program, and they had to go back to the drawing board. Hold on . . . (goes to Youtube Ian). Yeah, look at the cross section of the actual SD can. Look at the metal reinforcement around the vented section of the barrel. That section is taking *a lot* of heat, and I'm assuming that's why it's so overbuilt there. But it also acts to absorb heat from the rest of the can. Contrast that with the very narrow-fit of the DA cans above. Maybe it's much ado about nothing, but I wonder if a lot of buyers will be experiencing the reality of what it's like to have your hand (or polymer) right above the junction of an unvented barrel and a silencer. I wonder at what temp that plastic will deform.

I’ve never had a handguard (colt 9mm style sd upper) get too hot. This version has the length of a k barrel so there really isn’t much under the handguard anyway. A true sd supressor goes all the way back to the ports so I could see heat (in full auto) being an issue possibly. As far as these, I doubt (outside of full auto stings maybe) that anyone will experience any excessive heat no matter what can they’ll use. |

Having a few minutes today to look over it a bit more today. My mag catch has the typical slop, but it's rock solid with the bolt closed. I can push up a little with the bolt open and it's so tight there it can hang up on the carrier. From other postings a while back, I'm calling that a win. It's even tighter than my other two that run 100% flawlessly. The ejector also has also been updated, they now have the angle like you see on the hk replacements. And the finish is much better on that ejector, almost shiny black vs dull black. With the ambi safety, i had some issues getting it back in after removal, doing some research i found the right side had a small burr. A little light sanding to smooth it out and its fixed. My ffl also noted that it had the 4 position trigger housing, and he made the special note "the selector won't move to those positions". ![]() Nice old guy, but he sat on this thing for like 4-5hrs. Usually he calls me within an hour of delivery. I figure he just wanted to check it out, usually he likes to play with the cooler guns that come his way. Chatting with him it sounds like most people do .22s and boring stuff. With me, it's mostly surplus with the occasional cool shit. The last cooler gun that passed through was a ps90. He let me know he has an ar57 and thought the fn was cool. He also had that one for a few extra hours. Or he needed to contact someone to verify it was legal, idnk. |

I had a chance to run my ap5-sd over the weekend as delivered. It ran great, i skipped my usual hk ejector as it appeared the ambi pack it came with was already updated with the angle. It ran perfectly on both hk mags and mke, i put a solid 13 mags through it with no issues. I also watched the ejection path and confirmed it's not doing anything weird like hitting the ejection port. I'm happy, and it saves me some $$ since the hk parts are no longer $40. The best part, the front sight is straight. I didn't need to do any adjustments out of the box.
