I'm heavily contemplating the purchase of one of these from Fulton once I sell my MK12. Outdated system for outdated system. Outside of weight what are the biggest issues that exist? I want it primarily for the cool factor, and to have something other than a 5.56 rifle. Obviously you've got a whole bunch of better options in and below that price range. This is quite an expensive gun! |

The biggest cons: -Weight -Price -Having to keep up with the torque on all the little chassis screws -Mine came with a 1.5 MOA guarantee from Fulton. For an M14, that's ok. For pretty much any other rifle in the price range, that's unacceptable. -Literally ANY AR10 is a better rifle. Now the Pros: -It's undeniably cool. In my personal opinion, it's one of the coolest looking rifles ever made. -It's different and rare. I never have a range trip with it where someone doesn't come up to talk to me about it and/or ask to take a picture with it. I always let them shoot it if I have a mag loaded. -Fulton is GTG, and having one built by them is about as good as it gets. Their customer service is absolutely amazing. My MK14 Mod 0 was built up by Fulton Armory after being sent out a couple months back. I had originally planned to rehab a Springfield Scout Squad, but upon inspection and discussion with Fulton about repair/replacement options, I just opted to go with a completely new build in the Sage chassis I had sent them. The EBR has always been one of my dream guns, and I wanted to go all out and make sure I would be happy with it.  My build: Fulton MK14 Mod 0 in FDE Sage Chassis -Sadlak Airborne Steel EBR optic mount -Trigger work -Adjustable gas plug -Sadlak National Match Grooved TiN Coated Piston -Criterion Chrome Moly Match Barrel -Everything else is GI or Fulton Parts So at the end of it all, I guess the real question is "is it worth it?" From a financial standpoint? It's really not. I love the rifle, but it's objectively a ton of money for what it is. Virtually ANY AR10 platform rifle will run circles around the EBR, even one built out by Fulton. For what I paid for my EBR I could have had an LMT Mars H, or a Seekins SP10, or a SCAR H. With all that said, there's just something about the EBR. It literally turns heads at the range like a classic car. People come up to talk to you about it, ask you questions about it, and want to shoot it. My particular example has been awesome to own, shoot, and show off. And if you want one, Fulton Armory are the guys I'd go with. They were absolutely awesome to work with at every step of the process and the gunsmith who built my rifle, Richard Fink, spent literal hours on the phone with me answering my endless questions and weighing the pros/cons of various options they offer. I fell in love with the MK14 when I went through the USN armorer school at NSWC Crane back in late 2008. I ordered a MOD 1 Sage chassis from Clyde Armory in mid 2009. I originally had a Springfield SOCOM 16 in it for about 2 years. Bought a 3.5-15x50 Nightforce NXS optic and mounted it on an LT168 mount just like the USN rifles in 2010. In early 2011 I sent the chassis to Fulton Armory and had a custom MOD 1 barreled action built. DId most of the upgrades available and they put it in the chassis. It is definitely one of the most unique rifles in my collection and has occupied my safe for it's whole life awaiting when I retire in a few years. My wife and I did BZO the optic in early 2019 with a 20 rd mag each using M118LR ammo. She is not a fan as it "kicks like a mule" in her opinion. It's within 1.5 MOA but won't get much better than that. My LaRue OBR 7.62 is much more accurate. There are times when I was very close to selling it, but decided not to since I knew I would regret it. Of all the MK14 series rifles, I like the MOD 2 the best. We shot and qualified it at the USN expeditionary designated marksman course in 2012. The PRS stock allowed a much better cheek weld than either the MOD 0/1 in my opinion. I have shot the MOD 0 the most when I was attached with USN EOD from 2016 to early this year.

I drive an impractical 30-yo Jeep because I like it, not because I have to. You should buy a Mk 14 EBR for the same reason. Attached File |

It’s definitely got “3rd car” energy. Hell, I’d also look at an M21 or a BHD M14 build while you’re shopping. Both are in the price range of an EBR build. Like you said, it’s a lot of money. |
