Hey all, I have had a MAC5 since about last October and am about 2200rds in and am thinking of putting a red dot of some sort on it. What mount would I need to put the dot low enough to co-witness with the iron sight ? I'm looking at the HK parts low profile mount and possibly an ACRO or something similar if that will work. Thanks for any help you can provide. |

Battle Steel also makes a good mount that direct mounts to a T1 footprint. That will lower 1/3 co-witness. Not my pic. But I also have this with a Holosun Attached File Dont let the $39.95 fool ya. Its a quality solid mount. Attached File If you want the lowest 1911 style rail that is low enough to get some optics to lower 1/3 co-witness. I highly recommend the BT-10266 - B&T Mounting Rail NAR Low Profile Mount. It is as low as you can get a 1911 rail on a MP5. As far as Quality its a BT-10266 - B&T. If you can find one. |

Yeah, not a big fan of co-witness on the MP5 platform; with a small red dot and the front sight hood, it's pretty cluttered. Personally, I quite like an RMR, ADM QD, and HKP MP5 minimalist mount combo. Gets it just above the front hood without being ridiculously tall.  |

| I went with the HK Parts RMR low profile mount and a HoloSun 507C (might upgrade to an EPS eventually) on my MAC 5. Allows co-witness, but also a natural cheek weld. I did find the sight picture slightly cluttered with the original peep sight, but a few minutes witha dremel, and I have a good optic sight picture, and 3 more options on my sight drum for iron sights. |
| I just mounted a PA GLX 1x prism on my K and it's really not bad at all. I think I like it a little better than the Holosun 510 I had on it, but we'll see after I get it to the range. Waiting on a new mag release assembly to arrive. Bought HK parts since the Mac factory ones were a bit of a mess, functional, but rough as hell. |

Because I wear bifocals, I'm not a fan of "low" mounts.. but I don't want a skyscraper on the gun either... I ended up using the factory MKE "mid height" AP5K mount with a Romeo5 Gen II on it's factory "low" base on my Mac-5. That puts the dot just above the front sight hood for me. Attached File |

I have the Battle Steel that directly mounts a T1 or in my case a Romeo 5 to co witness. It's been great. I also have an old B&T picatinny mount that is low enough to co witness. For the money I prefer the Battle Steel, the B&T was expensive. I have a mount for my K that replaces the rear sight with a small pistol type optic, I will probably use an EPS. I have not tried it yet. James |
