Have done something similar w/ Legos. You could just cut out all the interior reinforcement, cut it into small bits, plug the vent hole on the back of the buffer tube (important), and stuff the bits, buffer tube, and some lengths of threaded steel rod into the thing, then pour in 2-part epoxy. Looks like a fun project. ETA: are you sure that's going to be a sufficient LOP? Are you going to be able to tighten the castle nut? |

At the moment the idea is to spin it on and use a small window cutout on the stock to access the castle nut. I have an A1 on order to see if I can go that route too. The length of pull is equivalent to 4th position in a standard 6 position stock which I’m fine with since I’m using an Elcan. After I’m done I’ll definitely post some pics but gotta figure out the best way to get this hole exactly straight in relations to receiver so it’s not crooked when shooting. |

Given you need a goodly amount of torque on a castle nut to secure it before staking, a small window might not be enough. |

Apparently someone somewhere at some time made an adapter that fit an M249 stock to an AR lower, as seen in this video:![]() Failed To Load Title Who made it? I haven't figured that out yet. But it appears to be discontinued. Perhaps someone here has one or knows who made the adapter? |

You can see the head of a Spikes Tactical buffer in it. Someone asks him about it in the comments and his reply is only a cryptic "someone used to make them". |
| It looks like they cut off the angle change in the comb of the stock, most likely because it would have misaligned with the upper. And the way they squared off the adapter where it meets the upper appears to be a match for a Fightlite style upper, and it would probably match the profile on a Cryostructure receiver. |
|
I mean it doesn’t need a crazy amount and if you’re super worried you can always locktite it. The green stock is cryostructures prototype. He has stated it’s his own design and will be making them for the dual feed lowers, but I’m not willing to wait for his quoted later this year (2025) or next year since there’s a lot of deadlines not being met by him etc… I decided the best way is probably fill the entire thing with resin or steel epoxy mix. Then I’m gonna square it to receiver and drill a hole big enough for an A1 or a standard carbine tube with some material off the bottom ground off to fit easier. |

Have a Lima Six coming for an article series on Ammoland/The Truth About Guns. Working on a Hilux roll bar mount right now too @tonyrumore |

Yeah, I would be interested in that. We were planning on making a complete Lima 6 to M249 conversion kit, so your gun would look as similar to an M249 as possible. Just waiting on an upper. It's best to contact me via email at [email protected] to discuss this further, rather than try and hash it all out here. Tony Rumore Tromix |
Believe it or not I grabbed anairsoft M249 stock stock and it is pretty robust. For a range toy that I don't plan on buttstroking any RSO with, I think it will hold up fine.![]() Originally Posted By TonyRumore: Yeah, I would be interested in that. My FRTsaw won't be unique anymore ![]() No but in all seriousness if you came out with a kit, I would 1000% grab one. |

Anyone wanting to use a real M249 stock. I found some standard things in the shop to make it work. 3/4" PVC pipe, cap, screw... put in drill... cut a slot .. insert sandpaper... sand till you remove about .010![]() M249 stock on AR15 A5 buffer tube ![]() M249 stock on AR15 A5 buffer tube part 2 |
