So, never researched it, but dad bought an M14 back in 86-87, the stock cut out for the selector switch appears to have been filled in with glass bead epoxy, and the receiver is marked “Springfield armory” and the serial number is “0211xx”. I was able to look up the serial number and it says it was made 1959-1960. May be a complete mix master as the number on the bolt is different from the receiver. Not sure about pics yet, but this rifle created my love for my own M1A Scout that I now shoot. |

I had no idea to be honest. I hadn’t thought about the “once a machine gun always a machine gun”. I was a teenager when he bought it and it was in CA which had crazy gun laws. So I didn’t think about it |

| Springfield used their own receivers but used USGI parts for the rest of the rifle for many years. I think they ran out of USGI parts in the early 2000's. Hell not that long ago you could get USGI M14 surplus parts from the CMP. I have quite a few spare parts for my M1a. |

I purchased two Springfield Armory Inc. receivers back in the early 1980's. #022XXX was used to put together a "Standard" model using USGI surplus parts while #020XXX was used to build a M21 sniper clone with USGI NM parts. Your serial numbered rifle falls in that time frame. Gary |
