Those are indeed gorgeous Carbines, and FYI, if those are the original barrel bands, and I'd bet they are, they're worth around $150 each, maybe a bit more! |

| Thanks guys. All original. I posted detailed pics on CMP forum a few years ago and confirmed all original. My Dad got them at the end of WWII, he was Navy but had a buddy in the Army that I think hooked him up. Details sketchy but I think they fell off a truck when they were bringing them all back at the end of the war. Serial #'s put them at Dec 1943. |

Midway Winchester good/very good. I'm quite pleased. The only mechanical problem I've found so far is the rear sight is loose. Looks like it is supposed to be staked, but the staking broke loose. Attached File Attached File Any idea what this sticker on the bottom is? Attached File Attached File |

Put it under the rear sight as a "shim" and reinstall the sight. The brass shimstock will tighten it right up. Fine tune the centering of the sight at the range so your windage zero and mechanical zero are close. |

Figured I'd get my mixmaster in. Started out as an Alpine. Receiver was bad so I replaced it with a NPM receiver, while looking for a receiver, found this barrel. At one time, demilled surplus barrels were readily available. Got this one that already had a cut down L1A1 5 slot flash hider tack-welded on. Removed the 5 slot and replaced with a M16A1 f/h. Had to have the barrel retreaded and the new f/h pined and welded. Attached File Attached File I also got a good deal on a repo folding stock. Attached File I've since installed a Utimak mount and a Primary Arms RDS. No pictures of that yet. |

Posting in this photo thread as well as main thread. I picked mine up today, G-VG Winchester. About like others I have seen posted, mixmaster, some Winchester parts still in place. I have given it a quick cleaning, nothing major wrong, bright bore. Serial 1,161,XXX. I have not broken down the bolt or other nibbly parts, but here is the big stuff. stock - Inland, IO flaming bomb in slot. low wood, but I cut. handguard - IO Inland Bolt - 35 S Standard Products trigger housing - W Winchester hammer - HI type 3 Inland Mag. release - W Winchester Slide - W Winchester type 3 Barrel band - type 1 unmarked prob Winchester Safety - rotary HI marked, Inland? Rear sight - IR Co. type 3 Overall, about middle of the pack for Midway carbines I have seen posted here and other forums. Was it worth the money? IMO, I would not pay $1,349.00 plus tax/FFL for it if I could have looked at it at a gun shop or gun show. I guess it is an "OK" deal, just wish I had gotten a dog leg hammer like so many of the Winchesters have had. Attached File Attached File |

Just got my M1 in! I bought it off GB the day before Midway released theirs for quite a bit less. It looks like an honest late/post war re arsenal that was probably a bring back from Korea. Most of the parts are Inland with a few Winchester, a QH flat bolt, and an AM (not AMB) hammer. Obviously, someone stored it for a long time with a buttstock ammo pouch on and it sucked the oil out of the stock. Working on a repo M1A1 stock to drop it in as soon as I can shave 0.03" off the front end. ETA Not an import        ETA Mo' better. Kahr (Auto Ordinance) Arms repro A1 stock. I did have to sand about 0.03" off the snout so the barrel band would fit.

Must've been a few of these hit transfer around here. Ran out of RLO for my Garands so headed to the local supplier. Store has VERY LITTLE traffic. Was told by RP Lumber I was the third guy TODAY that was buying some RLO. They warned me to be careful because I could burn down the house in short order due to flash point. Some nice winners overall in the batch. Kind of wish I would've fent because now I'm left with a void.

The LGS I bought it from installed a new rear sight on it since I'd bought it under their 90 day used gun warranty. |

Thanks for keeping this thread alive, guys. Really enjoy seeing all of your carbines. Kinda wish this thread would get a tack so it would be a semi-permanent part of the forum, at least for a while. |

I swapped a couple stocks around My "Howachester" I had a Numrich stock laying around I figured would look good with it.  My "shooter" USGI Inland back in a M2 Birch stock. I was using a Boyd's stock I did for this but it had a tad wiggle in the trigger group that bugged me a bit. It's tight in this stock so I'll keep it in here for now |
