| Looking to darken Aero OD Green anodized receivers. They are just too bright for me. I'm looking to maybe applying a thin coat of some type of paint that will just darken it up a bit. I'm not looking for the Battle worn look but to just darken the anodized OD green some what. All the pictures I find are basically covering the anodized surface completely. I don't need a perfect even color throughout. Not sure if there is a certain paint that can be applied in a thinner pass or maybe wiped off that will maybe hold on better. Again I just want to darken the anodized color some what. Not completely cover it. I'm not looking to completely cerakote a new color. If the paint is building up in the corners and going heavier and darker thats fine. I'm hoping to maybe applying paint a bit at a time and wiping off until I get a darkness that does bother me so much. I'm not sure if there is another way to darken the anodized surface safely and just get it to go darker. Any pics or advice would be appreciated. |

A very light dusting of black would work, but it would have to be done with an HVLP spray gun to get enough atomization of the coating to apply it that thin. The coating itself would also have to be thin. I do similar for some Cerakote jobs. Another possibility is slightly applying something like VHT nightshades. It’s essentially a spray on tint I’ve used on headlights and tail lights in the past. |
