I’m hoping someone has run into this before. Setup: * MAC5K (MP5K clone) * L2 Prints lower * Super Safety installed * AS Designs rounded hammer * Suppressed * 90° locking piece The gun runs great in Super Safety mode. It’s reliable and cycles well. My problem is in semi-auto. I’m experiencing two issues: * Sometimes I get a dead trigger and have to manually cycle the action. * Other times it will fire one round but fail to reset, requiring me to cycle the bolt before it will fire again. I’ve also noticed that the selector can occasionally feel a little sticky when moving between Safe, Semi, and Super Safety, although the primary issue is the unreliable function in semi-auto. Since the gun runs correctly in Super Safety mode, I’m wondering if this points to a reset, hammer, or trigger geometry issue rather than a cycling problem. I’m currently using the AS Designs rounded hammer. Has anyone experienced this combination of symptoms with an L2 Prints lower? If so: * What ended up being the cause? * Did changing the hammer or another fire-control component fix it? * Were there any adjustments or modifications that solved the semi-auto reset issue? I’d appreciate hearing from anyone who’s successfully gotten this setup running reliably in both semi-auto and Super Safety. |

From what you describe, it sounds like a problem between the hammer and the disconnector not interacting correctly in semi, basically you're getting hammer follow because it's not being captured by the disco. Could be tied to just out of spec parts, or could be the FCG "cage" inside that holds all the components is out of spec. I'm not sure if you could round the hammer too much such that it wouldn't get pushed down enough to catch the disco, but that would be one thing to check. Also just the general interaction of the hammer and disco with the trigger housing off the gun, put it in SA mode and hold the trigger back while cocking the hammer, watch how much engagement there is on the hammer and disco and does it hold it there until you then release the trigger and it properly falls into the sear notch? |
