Checked my 308 Berdan cases. 
I had 4 AFF 90 and 3 AFF 89 to work with. 
None of the 7 cases would deprime. 
Deprimed 5 cases, top row, to confirm the setting on the decapper. Who ever told you AFF 90 brass was hard to decap was correct. Might try the water method of depriming, but I have never had a luck with that method. I tossed these cases in the recycle bucket. Good luck. |

Who ever told you AFF 90 brass was hard to decap was correct.

After looking at the pics and then reading your response, I picture you being somewhat frustrated with the brass and the lack of success.... and got a little chuckle at the "Who ever told you AFF 90 brass was hard to decap was correct." comment... 
Thanks for taking the time to try this out for me, you saved me some money and aggravation.... I appreciate it very much! One other question, moving on to the 7.62 x 39, are you guys using the Yugo brass cases or steel cases...? If you are using the Yugo, where are you getting the cases from? I don't find that much of it laying around, and haven't seen a source for it being for sale... Thanks again! Dave |

Found a few Yugo NK headstamp as range brass. You would have to luck into some. 
First order 
Second order. Yugo goes for about $210-220 per 1240 at Aim and other places. Great shooting ammo, light years ahead of Wolf. More accurate and stronger shooting. Wolf seems under powdered after shooting Yugo. Yugo is corrosive primed. Not a problem, clean rifle after shooting just like a black powder gun. I'm shooting AK's. I use Windex on a couple of patches, dry bore with dry patch, Hoppes #9 and then Break free. Gas tube and piston, soap and hot water, dry and oil. Wipe down rest of gun just like normal. Remember AK's were made to shoot this ammo.
Biggest trouble with Yugo is that it's such fine shooting ammo, I put most of it away for another day. 
Yugo is nice, but for nothing you can pick up an endless supply of steel cases. Yes you will get some  from people as you go around with your magnet collecting steel cases.
But the laugh is on them, they will tell you that those cases can't be reloaded, I reach in my pocket and pull out a loaded steel round with a cast bullet and say "I'm not having a problem reloading them". Steel cases with light rust, place in dry tumbler with walnut, couple of hours rust is just a stain. Cases can then be reloaded. The last pic with the plated bullets has cases like this. Had cases like this stored in ammo boxes for a year and the rust doesn't return. Of course fresh fired steel cases are the best for reloading, they are normally in the range throw away bucket. With steel cases, after resizing they are always a little short and don't seem to grow on successive firings. I do debur the case mouths. |

Yugo brass cases have been reloaded a third time. Steel Wolf have been reloaded twice. So far. I will load them until they split. This weekend I sized, tumbled and deprimed about 700 more once fired Steel 7.62x39 cases from my last range trip. Will start priming next weekend. |

I know that pistol cases are a different animal, but I remember a thread awhile back...2 or 3 years ago...where a guy took 10 steel 9mm cases & some reloading equipment to the range. I can't remember how many loadings he got out of them before he got bored & went home, though. I seem to remember it was quote a few, but I can't remember. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |
