My CQB Mod 2 has turned into a single shot after about 1k rounds. Is the gas block shifted? Anyone have any KAC contacts? They dont have a presence here anymore right?

Look at how far the gas tube protrudes into the upper. Compare it to another upper you have. If you have a longer punch, and you can get it on the front of the gas block at the top (above the gas block castle nut) give it a few taps and see if it slides back. The gap doesn’t look right. KAC will take care of it for sure. If not, I’ve got a gas block castle nut wrench and we’re in the same general area. ETA: Happy to help, even though apparently per my effort to IM you, as I just tried, you have me on your ignore list

Interesting. This kind of sounds like a problem. Did we just so happen to get the only two guys/rifles with this problem in the same thread? Is this a batch problem or a systemic design problem? What are the castle nuts torque specs? Are they staked? Seems fishy, like the castle nuts weren’t torqued / staked from the factory correctly, are missing thread locker or are a design problem. How many other guns is this happening to? |

Its a very rare issue. Obviously anything can happen, but very rare. If I had it happen to me, I'd simply add a touch of rocksett and drive on. If I recall, the torque spec for the nut is somewhere in the 20-25 ft lbs range, but don't quote me on that. Its been a long time since I've taken down a mod 2. |
