Anyone have any experienced with the Jerry YM 2.0 Thermal monocular? I'm starting to get serious about looking for a thermal and if anyone has any experience with it or any similarly spec'd thermal monocular let me know your likes and dislikes. What I'm interested in is a clip on that can quick detach and is rated for 5.56, probably in the 640 resolution that's fairly small. I don't really care about video and photo options, but they are "nice to have" stuff. |

Jerry ym 2.0, Agm sting ir 640 and Rix st6 are all similiar. As I understand, Infiray is the OEM. Agm discontinued the sting ir after the Infiray sanctions. Rix st6 isn't weapon mountable as far as I know. I havnt seen a Jerry YM 2.0 in person but there's alot to like about the specs and price point. The 16° FOV leaves some to be desired for HMT but maybe it's a solid clip on. Most HMT/clip on thermals seem to excel at one or the other. |

That's why the StingIR is discontinued. I had no clue they were all OEM by Infiray, but that of course makes a lot of sense. I love how they'll ban import of anything Chinese related that benefits the 2A community, but the CEO of Ford is driving around in a Chinese EV car he imported.  As if sanctions on Chinese Thermals are going to matter when we increased our trade deficit with China by something like $15 billion dollars just last year alone. Those sanctions certainly aren't making a hill of beans difference with the war in Ukraine, might even be making those units more affordable for the Russians due to decreased demand. Sorry, bit of a rant there.

Iray micro Iii 384 or 640 modules. Wifi boards in the rix and jerry ym, video and power supply boards in all 3. The modules should all be the same, with functions neutered by Iray for rix and agm's price points. Functions like color pallette, screen shift, wifi ect. The Rix should be weapon mountable, but the reticle and collaminatoon functions are turned off by Iray. |

Yeah, they are very popular, because I think in terms of price and specs/performance they're the best value going right now. Some nice accessories out for them now as well. I think these units could end up taking a lot of market share away from the IRAY RH25 and whatever their equivalent is overseas. Sure, the RH25 has marginally and I mean marginally better performance over the YM 2.0, but man you are paying a substantial amount more for that very marginal gain and a gain that's not much of a "flex" as the kids would say over the YM 2.0. |

I really don't like how there are items for different markets with all manner of different price points. It's a major bummer. The lack of warranty protection has kept me from buying certain overseas items. Components in thermals aint cheap if something were to go wrong. Any savings I might potentially have could be eaten up by having to try to extract a warranty claim out of an over seas vendor...lol. |

If you want to be very flexible and use the Jerry-YM as a helmet mounted device as well, you should use a Wilcox flip mount in combination with a dovetail adapter. I own a Jerry YM and it's an awesome thermal. I had a buddy 3D print a mount that I use with a Noisefighter bridge. 90 percent of the time, I use it for scanning. I also bought my wife a RIX Pocket K3 and she loves that thing.  |

My Jerry YM came in from CHS last week, ive had some time to mess around with it. so far its pretty nice as a clip on, works very well as a handheld scanner/helmet mounted. The online manual(doesnt come with a printed one) is slightly odd to follow in Engrish at times, and doesnt answer some questions i have. As a clip on, the only drawback i've noticed so far is you cannot "freeze" the image to collimate. i am used to and have compared this to my Pulsar Thermion Xp50(640 core) and Bering Hogster R35(384core) where they can be "froze". i bought the AGM sting-ir flip to side mount for now to try until i get a wilcox system. so during the initial collimation i held the scope reticle centered on target using bipod/rear-bags and would flip the thermal back and forth until i could get it close to matching up. This worked decently. it was off 2" high and 2" right when i live fired at 100(daytime scopes zero). The manual says each click or "moving value" is 1 pixel. idk what that means as far as inches go at 100yards. I had the idea that maybe i can cut the reticle option on and align the daytime reticle to the thermal reticle and be fine, but it does not look like you can access the reticle from the clip on menu. when in clip-on mode the screen gets smaller and a few icons are removed from the screen. i would assume this means the reticles would not align once i swapped back to clip-on mode from reticle mode. i will have to try that one of these days to confirm. but its roughly sighted in within an inch after i made a few adjustments. just feels like i am missing something that could make this easier, maybe a center reference mark or something showing how far the image has moved. or it does have this capability, and i'm thinking too hard or i'm a dumbass lol. |
