Good luck with your project. High Standard -- the company that actually manufactured your gun -- produced some of the best pump guns ever made. Sadly, High Standard also produced some of the worst semi-auto shotguns ever made. Many of them were true dogs that would not run reliably. Hopefully, yours is not one of those. |

I ordered a original JC Higgins front bead from Brownells, it is a weird 5-40 thread so then I ordered a tap to match. Finally got the bead on. I need to go shoot it but we have a burn/ shooting ban here in Arizona. I've had to drill out the gas ports trying to get it to cycle reliably, but due to the ban I've not shot it since the last bit of drilling or the bead installation. 3 gas ports started at .078 diameter, after 3 times drilling I'm up to. 098 diameter Attached File |

Finally got to go shoot today ( it rained and the burn ban on public land was lifted). After the last outing I've opened up the gas bleed holes a few thousands. Now it cycles flawlessly with 1600fps slugs but is not reliable with double ought at 1300fps. So I'll drill it out a bit more. Attached File |
