I have an obsidian 9 and ordered their tri lug adapter to use on my SP5K PDW. Anyone using this set up? If so, any tips/tricks/advice? Just curious. I have seen the reports of end cap strikes with this suppressor across different platforms. I'd like to avoid that lol. I will be using an FRT. Thanks! |

The extension was clean. Rugged has a design flaw and they refuse to acknowledge it. My personal opinion is the tolerances are just too tight. |

I run that set up across the board on all my PCCs and did, in fact have an end cap strike after thousands of rounds, in the long configuation on my Evo K. Sent the whole thing in for replacement, and now use the "kissed" end cap for long configuration, and the new one for short. It's hardly noticable and doesn't effect function, but I won't use the new end cap in long for fear of a repeat strike. It was absolutely not user error. |

I have the Obsidian 45 and use their tri lug for my 9mm AR with no issues. When I first got my Obsidian their tri lug was out of stock everywhere so I used a different brand. There was way too much play in it for me. I finally got the Rugged one and it was much better. |

I have an Obsdian 9 and had an endcap strike with it screwed onto a handgun. Totally my fault because it started unscrewing and I didn’t notice. Rugged sent a new end cap under warranty. Since then it’s been on my PTR 9CT with a tri lug adapter in the long form and no problems at all. Very quiet with my 147gr subsonic reloads. |

I have also used the Obsidian 9 with their tri lug adapter for 4 or so years now with no issues on my full size AP-5 It has been used almost exclusively in the long configuration and with lots and lots and lots of FRT with my cast lead, subsonic 150 gr reloads. The reasons I chose to use the Obsidian was 1. Since I shoot cast lead, I needed an suppressor I could take apart and clean. 2. When I was shopping for suppressors, the tri lug adapter that Rugged sells was about the only one I could find at the time, as well as their suppressor. 3. I had read that their customer service was very good and that they will fix their suppressors no questions asked. I have never had to send mine in. |

So I used the Obsidian 9 w/ tri lug on it for 1 short range trip. It worked fine and sounded good. BUT I ended up getting a really good deal on an OCL Milkman. That is now dedicated to the MP5K and the Obsidian is back to it’s originally intended purpose, use on my G16.6 Thanks for all the info dudes. |

Used the obsidian 9 in long configuration with the rugged tri lug mount on my APC9k for approximately 500 rounds with no issues Used the same setup on my ap5 full-size with frt and had multiple very minor end cap strikes maybe the increased ROF is overpowering the tri lug spring and obviously making the can shift semi it works fine and short configuration I haven’t had any issues |

I'm planning to try this out today on my new Obsidian 9 and their tri-lug adapter. Doing some reading before hand, i picked up a new thread protector that might be a tiny bit fatter and it's longer. https://www.downrangeproductsco.com/product/hk-mp5-mp5-n-mp5k-n-style-3-lug-barrel-thread-protector-1-2x28-thread-5-8-long-590-diameter-4273/ So far, it seems to have a bit less flop to the supressor. The slightly longer oal is probably a good thing as well. |

I ran my Obsidian hard in long config via the trilug adapter, probably 600rds. Most of that in frt. It started smoking pretty good, i smelled rubber/plastic coming from that smoke. ![]() I think i cooked the oring in the middle of the can a bit. No baffle or endcap strikes! Brings up a dumb question, So how are you guys cooling this shit off? First time can shooter here. First the can transfers a ton of heat back to the host firearm. I thought i started smelling plastic handgaurd burning while i set the mp5k down to cool. ![]() But It was probably the supressor body oring cooking Then the issue where i want to transfer the can to another host. Bottle of water down the supressor? ![]() That might be what i did It was melting anything that got close to it. I'm thinking i need to pack gloves in my range bag, and disconnect it from the host while cooling. Thinking mostly about my plastic framed guns, like my precious HK USPs

If you're using water to cool a can you may wind up with cracks on welds eventually, especially with any kind of additive manufacturing cans. It's never happened to me but people talk about it enough I feel like I should mention it. |

I picked up one of these a couple months ago, after using a buddy's at the range, and it really helps cool things down. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07TLF4KKY |

I couldn't find the Rugged adapter in stock when I was shopping for a tri lug setup. However, I haven't had any issues with mine using a KAW Valley tri lug and adapter in long configuration and 9mm cap on a 5.5" Stribog. I'm probably close to 2,000rnds and just ran about 200 through on Saturday. It seems to be hit (literally) or miss on how tight the tolerances are for these suppressors. I do plan on getting the Rugged sub9 as a dedicated can on the Stribog as I'd like to move my Obsidian back to pistols. I did have an endcap strike in long configuration on a G19 years ago, but I believe it's because I forgot to remove the o-ring from the threads before attaching the suppressor - so definitely my fault. |
